I have a Asus A7V with onboard Promise UDMA100 controller. I have my HD on the Promise controller and when i turn on the machine I get the following error

Boot Disk Failure Insert System Disk And Press Enter

I just press enter and it goes and boots fine off of the Promise controller. Everything funtions properly and all 6 ide devices I have on the system are fine it's just that it is anoying as HELL to have to hit ENTER every time I boot the machine. I am using bios 1005c

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you checked your bios to make sure the first boot device is on raid ? Or the controller you have it on.

Yes I have checked my bios settings they make no diff no matter how I set them. I even tried disabaling the built in UDMA 66 controller and it still does the same thing?

if I remember correctly, in 1005c you need to enable (boot virus detection) to stop that from happening.
also try the other bios's 1005D, 1006, 1007.

I updated to bios ver 1007 and the problem went away. Thanx for the info.
