When first trying to install my A7V133, I placed two ATA100 drives on the primary ATA100 channel and a combo of 100 and 66 on the secondary. I can get no further than the Promise card identifying the drives... my system stops dead.
So I moved the second set of drives to the first ATA66 channel. No problem. Win2k installed like a charm, except of course the fact that the primary drive on the ATA100 was registering as E. Then I installed the VIA 4in1 drivers and Win2k would no longer boot fully.
Alright I thought, maybe the ATA66 drive and ATA100 controller aren't friendly so I tried to repeat the first setup, minus the ATA66 drive. No problem. Win2k works fine until I try to access the drive on the secondary channel and the entire OS freezes. No BSOD, just a dead stop.
I have the newest BIOS (1002a), the newest VIA 4in1 drivers (4.28) and the newest Promise drivers (build 25). What am I missing?
