Has anyone figured out why the A7V's suffer the loonngg post syndrome?

yes, and you can make it just as short as any other mobo.
1. Make sure you have the latest Promise drivers (I think they are 1.6 build25 available from ASUS website). If you are using ata100 spots, this will substantually decrease the post time from old drivers.
2. If you are not using ata100, then under windows control panel, system properties, device manager, SCSI controllers -disable the promise controller and there will be no delay for ata100 drives on post.

you can download Ultra100 Driver v1.60 Build 32 from promise.com
I couldn't download from asus

I've got the new build (33), and it's slightly faster than the build 25 that I was using before. Can't remember where I got it from, but if I can track it down again I'll post with the URL.
