I just flashed to the new 1005 BIOS for my A7V133, and while poking around, I found a setting for Clock Throttling. There is no real info on it, even in the BIOS itself (Looks like they didn't finish the explanation for it). You can set this to Throttle or Shutdown, but not Ignore. I asume it uses the in-socket temperature probe to monitor when the temperature gets too high, but it didn't say how high is too high, unfortunately. But, I asume that by disabling the CPU Temperature monitor in the BIOS, you can effectively disable this, and assuming that the high temperature is somewhere around say, 50-55 C, you might want to consider that. There is also a neat POST fan-checker, that makes sure that the CPU fan is spinning at full speed when you power up, or it'll scream at you. I havn't done any new RAM benchies yet. Maybe later.

I can't say that I have, unfortunately. But I am keeping an eye on that Clock Throttling setting. I'm trying to get my system hot enough for it to kick in, but I havn't been successful so far.

Do you people like your A7V133 mainboards??
What did you have before?
Any dislikes about it?

A7V w/Duron700 @997...lookin for more!!

I really like my A7V133. It uses the KT133a chipset, its relyable, stable, and overclocker-friendly. It has lots of features like a seperate ATA100/RAID chain (Primary and Secondary), 4x AGP Pro slot, onboard sound, and in-BIOS multiplier and FSB settings, so you don't have to fight w/ dip switches (It has those as well, if you need them). The only real things that are rather disheartening to me, are that the Vcore and VIO settings use jumpers, not dips, and I've not been able to successfully set the Vcore in the BIOS. It also uses the 686b SouthBridge, which usually conflicts w/ Creative Labs soundcards. But there is a fix for that, so its no biggie. I'm very happy with this board, and I hope it continues to perform this well.

If you're looking for a new board, do some research. Look around at what other people have said, and chose one that fits your needs. One that does what you want it to do. Good luck!

Oni,

You said above that there is a fix for the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live problem with the south bridge. Where can I find it???

well, my experience with the asus a7v133 has not been the greatest.....first it would now be able to load win2k, yesterday I bought a new cpu 1333 with the new stepping and motherboard would crash at default speed with bios 1005, play for about an hour and nothing improved it til I went back to my original bios 1003a. I am now running 11.5x133 wich is 1530mz but in the post it shows as 1466mz.

I just started looking into the Iwill 266 and see how that goes.
