Do any of you have experience in using PC2400 or PC2700 DDR with the A7V266-e. If so, what brand, what CL, what total size limits?? (e.g. does 256 MB work the same as 512 MB, does it make a difference if you used multiple sticks?)

Hi JimmyG,

I'm not running that board, but I can give you some general information concerning ram.

1st, you can run PC2400 or 2700 on your mobo.

I think that Corsair make the best memory available, and since I bought my 1st stick, I won't buy anything else. Yes, it's expensive, but it works well, and overclocks better than the others, in every review I've read.

As far as how much? The more memory you have, the less FSB you will get. As well, the amount of actual chips on the memory boards make a difference. The less chips the better. In other words, it's better to have a 256 Meg memory stick with 8-32Meg chips on it than 16-16Meg chips.

Lastly, I believe that you will get better memory scores from 2X256Meg sticks than 1X512Meg stick due to the ability to make use of the Interleaving available in the bios.

I hope that this information helps you out.

:)

I'd agree with Doc. I've seen some excellent results with Corsair considering they are the only ones that have PC2400 and CL2 Rated, but I haven't had an eye on their PC2700.

Another alternative that I always liked, and seen good results were Kingmax PC2700 CL2.5

Even though rated CL2.5, I've seen it hit as high as the 180's with CL2 timings. Their memory is very cheap.

Yea and what Doc said about the module size is correct :D
