Will the A7V333 support the XP2600/2700 and their 166/333 FSB speeds?

I'm assuming it's a simple matter of increasing the FSB to 166 when the chips debut?

Any info would be nice, thanks in advance,

: )

Actually, asus should already have an updated bios for the 2600+ as of 266 fsb, but whether they realease full support for 333 fsb is not known. Would be kind of shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't, since the board can already do it anyway.

Great, and I'm assuming we'll then see a makred improvement with the DDR2700 memory?

The memory will perform only as you set the FSB/speed at, whether you're using a XP2600+ or any other processor.

PC2700 should be able to run at high FSB as it is. I've got my PC3000 mushkin up to 206FSB using a XP1600+.

According to Asus Germany the 166fsb cps's will not run on rev 1.xxx boards. Only Rev 2 with the new southbridge and the a7v333-X will run them. So for us with the older boards it will be a crap shoot, they may or may not work. Untill the cpu is out and people with 1.xxx boards test them out we won't know if they'll even work or maybe work. It will really suck to have to buy a new board when i've only had mine not that many months.

oh dear now thats disappointing :(
I had hald expected this!

You miss my point the XP on a 266 doesn't require the additional bandwidth of 333 memory. With a 333 bus the memory shoud start to be utilised to its full potential.

Well heres hoping.

The latest BIOS (see my thread) adds support for 333FSB on ALL A7V333 boards, so we'll bee seeing some 2800+ and on lovin. :D

You do realize the support for 166 fsb cpu's in bios 1015 is meant for the a7v333 v1.04 rev2 and up since that and prior 'v3333's use the same bios file. I will not hold my breath until chips are readily available and have been tested on older a7v333s.

I've just installed the 2600/333, It's running @2250/ 180fsb stable, have had up to 195fsb but not stable enough for some games yet, Have ordered newer samsung 2xsamsung 512's level II (2700), current original 256 samsung 2700x2. This may help even higher cpu overclocking, YES this board supports 2600/2700 & well beyond. AMD's barton chip looks to be @ 333 with 512 cache, & 3gig wow, not sure about this, I don't think any body knows where amd's going , But i'm waiting to see
