A7V8X-MX, No way

Sorry for if anyone likes this board, but if I could puchase my motherboard over again, I would keep right away from this board. Its a good board but the KM400 video is crap. Which company wants to team up with VIA and S3 to put a video card on their motherboard. MY old Nvidia TNT2 M64 32MB video card was better than it. It may not be as fast as the KM400 chipset but it works with a hell of a lot more games.
Just are warning to anyone who wants to buy this board. Its a good cobination if you just want it for basic games and applications and for just using windows its great, but for a low level gamer they can forget it.

If you wanted a m/b for AMD processors with integrated video, why would you go for anything other than nForce?

If its any consolation the a7n8x-vm I ordered for my Dad is crap too. I tried to save him money on the video-card, and it gets artifacts and crashes in Civ 3. That isn't even a 3d app.

It has almost no bios settings.

It has been driving me nuts so I am sending it back to newegg, even if I have to pay a restocking fee since I don't know if it is actually defective or if it is supposed to crash in Civ 3.:rolleyes: :mad:

So my Dad gets my a7n8x r1.04, and I get a new a7n8x-e:D Or do I want an NF-7 S :confused::bang head

I'm paying the restocking fee, since I steered him down the wrong road, but the remainder goes toward my board, a good deal since I am giving him a two year service, parts, and replacement warranty and it comes custom volt-modded:D

In short, I'm not planning on trying on-board video again for personal or family use.

My machine that I use at work uses an A7N8X-VM, its able to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein fairly well I learned this week. Still if you do plan on doing any real gaming, I wouldn't go with any kinda of onboard video.

I hate to say it, onboard video is for Dell's and other pieces of junk. All around bad idea. I respect onboard LAN and sound sometimes, for the convenience of not having to pay another $45 for something so simple when I'm not even looking for anything fancy in the first place, and it takes a real fool to mess that up badly without being able to fix it with improved drivers. But still, for my money, I'm highly satisfied with the A7V8X-X, with the exception that you will need some alternative to the chipset cooling. Because I am watercooling anyway, I wasn't upset at that dinky sink they got on the northbridge, but whatever floats your boat.

As for the A7N8X-VM I finaly figured out the problem with the onboard video. I got glitches averywhere, even on the desktop. Tried different ram sticks, differnet drivers, no change.

And the BIOS has NO options..

But then I spotted it! My ram was running per SPD, and it's rated for DDR400. And the integrated video only for DDR333..

But the BIOS can't run the RAM otherwise, and a graphics card was on it's way..

So if you got a nforce board with integrated graphics, try slower ram..
