A7v8x wont boot from cd rom

ok i just returned my asus a7v8x and got one that will post now but the problem is when i try to boot from cd rom and install windows xp it just hangs at "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" and i dont know what i can do to get it to work cause when i try to boot into windows xp on my hard drive it just gives me a black screen.

im takeing for granted you went into the boot option menu and made your cd rom of choice as first boot option..

i finally got it to work now but i dont know what i did i just was messing with the bios then with the hard drives then i reset cmos then some other stuff and i removed my cold cathode light and it worked
