Hi all, I'm still a real newb here but I put me an A8N sli deluxe based pc and When I try to run 3dmark 2005 or any bench mark program it shuts off ! I mean cuts the whole thing off . Im using the 1004 bios. It has done it with all of them that I have tried.

Now even when i game it does it but only after a while.

I have the gigabyte rocket cooler pro an fx55 and 2 gigs of corsiar mem and two raptors.

I also would like to know if there is a better nvidia raid driver that when you install windows it dose not say has not passed testing.

The other night it shut off in game and it said raid error and i had to reformat.

SO this time I put in the new bios 1004 and changed the i cant think of the name but 33.33 part though this migh help but so far still the same ole shut down. Right now the asus pc prob says im at 38 c I just finished a game.

So in short why is my pc shutting down and

If you dont mind please tell me where to get a better DRIVER nvraid driver.
MY sig is old peace bros MethMan

Thats a beast of a system you got there...are you overclocking? could be that your PSU can't handle all that under a load. Thats my best guess. Has it always been like this? you could swap out components and see if something is faulty, then get an RMA/warranty return/repair.

Definetly use the PCI bus lock (thats the 33.33 thing), especially if you are OCing (this is VERY important if you have IDE drives, not so much if you have SATAs).

Drivers: nvida.com or Asus.com. one or the other should have em. Dont loose sleep over the lack of WHQL certification, its not that big a deal. Many drivers are like this. Speaking of drivers, make sure EVERYTHING in your system is running the latest drivers, from the mobo and gfx card(s) right down to the sound card and NIC card (if you have any).

[EDIT] Sentential beat me to it :D [/EDIT]

My power supply is an alienware 420 LOL i know at one time i was a real big newb. I use it from may 2003 to untill i just built this pc i put the parts in the alienware case and used that power supply. Ps this is only my second build ever.
and finding the nvraid on that cd took me 3 hours man i would of paid double for them to include it lol. Thanks for the help. guys

Its not over clocked.

I only have two sata raptors no ide at all but i did plug my dvd rom into the main ide ?
My bios is stock execpt for the 33 thing sorry just cant remember the name of it.

and the of course the nvraid that works great but I wish i had better drivers that passed windows .

Thanks for help guys

My video card is an evga only 1 with the ezplug hook up.
I used the dics for the drivers and it said 71 ? or something
sound is the 2 zs platinum

O just though of something Im not using the adabter plug for the power supply
and mabey i got it in the wrong place. its near the top with the pins near the bottom showing ? did i put it in the wrong place or do i need the adapter ?

dont worry about the mobo power connector...ont of the reasons they have the EZ plug is so you dont need the 24 pin adapter. if the cable fits in the mobo, its in right, so dont worry about that.

install the ASUSprobe utility from the CD and check your voltages. then start a benchmarker/stress tester (S&M or Prime95 works great for this 3DM05 not so good as it fullscreens and you cant see the monitor, but try it anyway) and watch the voltages as its running.

How far into 3DM05 or whatever does it shut off? right as you click the icon for it? right as you start the benchmark? a few seconds later?

Oh, just noticed something. you said your drivers were version 71.xx? bad (well, they're beta anyway). go to nvidia.com and download new drivers for your GPU (69.93, i think...6x.93, anyway) and mobo (the nforce 4 standalone thing).

It the problem starts when i click on run test or will i forget what its called.

I also had a windows error and now im at the repair windows page but dont now what to type or the commnads to repair windows .

IM a mess

But tomorrow I will reload windows after i check here first ! then once i finishe the reformat i will get the drivers you said and the stand alone thing.

I think its my power supply cause i Enabled it in the bios and then once it restated it got to windows desktop then it cut off again.

So i went in and disabled the ex plug and then i got a windows error install disk and hit r to repair.

So one more time with the whole thing and then im going to buy a differen mobo

Mabey a gigabyte or msi if this does not work but what ever i do im on the phone with pc power and cooling getting the best power supply that money can buy even if it breaks me lol.
Thanks for the help bro !!!! I look foward to your reply tomorrow when i get home from work.

Then its one more time and if that does not work then bye bye asus and hello
Gigabyte or msi or someone that can make this work lol.

how long have you had the board? if its under 30 days, RMA. If not, its under warranty. send Asus an email. no point on wasting $200-$400 on a new mobo and PSU if you can get yours replaced for free.

I don't believe that is true. The EZ Plug has 12 and 5 volts, the extra pins on the 24 pin mobo connector have 3 and 12 volts.

I got a lot of bluescreens when I had an Antec True550 power supply with the 20pin. Swapping it with the Enermax with the appropriate 24 pin fixed that. I would not look at using the wrong connector as a long-term solution if I were you.

I got it fixed guys I put a pc power and cooling turbo cool 510 sli dual pci express Power supply and all is well.

Thanks for the help bros.

Its stock for now not oc at all but my 3dmark 05 was 5155 .

I dont care about the score just the fact that my pc did not cut off when i tried to run it.

Also getting rid of some of the soundblaster stuff in misconfig helped my stabilty also.. Sorry cant spell

Again Thanks guys you all are the best

Aurora40,

My Antec True550 is using a 20-to-24 pin adaptor for the A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo connection. Do these plug adaptors really work or could they be causing problems, like blue screens which I was geting occasionally?

I also had a antec truepower 550w. I used to get random re boots which points towards power.
Changed to a noisemaker 2 enermax 600w which is SLI certified and my problems stopped.

I don't know if they really work. I'd guess they ought to work ok? However, I had the exact problems you had with random blue screens, usually for some kind of IRQ errors or something. I was using the True550 without any kind of adapter, just the 20-pin connected to the mobo. They stopped the instant I installed a 24-pin PSU, the Enermax Noisetaker 600W SLI model.

It could be your bluescreens are from something else, but if you can try a PSU swap, that might be all it takes to cure it. :)
