Been some years I've had a work phone (iPhone) and now back in the position where having a personal phone would make sense. Sadly work will hold my original number I ported over some years ago but I can/will be able to disconnect from work now. Still will have the work phone so still get access to the apple system if I need something but family and most friends have android as phones, or tablets. I also never really bought into the full "Apple Eco System" due to the price with most of their gear. Not to say its so much different these days but at least years back.

Originally was going to do it last year and things just ran away when looking at the S8/S8+... then the Note8 came out. Now just 2 weeks ago I'm fully on-board of doing this but of course the S9/S9+ are just around the corner, literally. So came to the conclusion, Note8 or S9+... which ever it is got to be dual camera (loving the zoom) and having at least 6GB of ram.

Site was boggy when I posted originally. Anyways was curious if anyone had some experiences with the Note8 they'd like to share. Or any juicy info on the S9's coming out :)

deathman, if it helps at all. I recently upgraded from a S5 Galaxy to a S8. I am not nor have I been a fan of Apple phones, due mainly to my absolute hatred of I tunes. I've had an I phone 4s and 5 c, Apple makes good phones don't get me wrong. There is, just something about the Galaxy phones I like better plus I don't have to deal with the aforementioned, I tunes. To my point I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for in a phone, I still haven't tapped into all the things I can do with my S8 and am loving it. I'm sure either way you go whether it's the Note or S9 you'll like it.

Yeah I forget about iTunes. Even years ago it was less than ideal to work with, and the bits I've read since indicate it's only gotten worse (less functionality, more bugs if that's possible - it was pretty buggy years ago).

Yeah I mean my works iPhone 6s. It does good, had decent battery life at one time (no work won't replace the battery right now). Overall it functions but there is something as you've said it with Android phones just in general. I personally like the extra customization options. Course I'll still have access to both on either side so not really worried there. Now I haven't been any sort of Apple fan over the years, though have to give it to them their phones are pretty rock solid. iTunes though, really haven't had to many issues with it except every time I open the darn thing it requests constantly to get access to the network here at work... its just one big pain in the arse. I just want to play music.... I don't need to be connected to the damn store 24/7. Going to have to find a different music player on the PC because I'm done with iTunes!

Yup official will be getting a S9+ myself getting my preorder in ASAP on Friday. Still torn on a S8 or S9 for the wife... shes not to much into the phone as I am, uses it decently just not heavy usage. Leaning to the S9 just to keep it on a similar OS releases/functions.

One thing worth mentioning... Android Auto is fantastic if you ever use Google Maps for in-car navigation.

Sadly no car like that right now... new truck hopefully I will have a screen though doubt the two brands I'm looking at has Android Auto in it (Ford/Nissan). I do love my Google Maps though! First thing I installed on my iPhone. Apple Maps = CRAP!

You can use a phone mount on your dash and still open Android Auto. That's what I do in my truck.
The new Colorado/Silverado have Android Auto, FYI.

Hmmm Colorado does... interesting. Test it on my Father-in-laws truck when going up north in 2 months :)
I'll have to check it out when I get my new phone :)
