I jumped on the watercool bandwagon and put together a kit. I got it all yesturday, and mounted my new Gemini block onto my AK31A, and no boot. Just lights and fans and power, but no beep or video. CRAP. It took me a while to figure out what happened.

There are those tiny little resistors right next to the mobo holes. Well, it was a tight fit with those "snap-in" mounts that the gemini blocks come with. When I was tightening my block down, I must have twisted those mounts, and one of them took out 3 little resistors. oops. Lesson learned: should have just picked up some normal screws and nylon washers from the hardware store. Thank God for warrenties.

lesson learned, the best way to learn is by trying things, its only a motherboard its not the end of your world and if its under warranty its all good good luck with water cooling when you get it to work i'de like to hear about your results im considering it once i get $$

question, aren't warranties meant to cover manufacturing defects and the like, not damage you cause? I mean, with your type of "warranty" I could take a blow torch to my mobo and get a replacement?! hmmm...just curious, that's all.......sounds illogical to put it politely

Some companies give out those warranties with purchase to get more people to buy them and it really is a good technique seeing only the hardcore ones trying to push the limits usually end up breaking them by accidents and on top of that many people are to lazy or forget about their waranty. just another way of boosting sales and it really helps the buyers. To bad mine only covers factory defects i guess ill just have to be careful.

Maybe they can tell the company that the resistors spontaneously popped off the motherboard....hehehe j/k:beer:

Just solder them on, and if it doesn't work then you can say *cough* defective.

Oh, I'm not too upset about it. All is well with my soul. I just said to the reseller that I'm having boot problems (which is true) and instability problems (which would be true if it could boot :) ). If they say "no dice", time to upgrade.
