okay, i just got my new be6 II r.2 and assembled it in my new case. i am running in with a pII 350, 64mb pc100 ram, voodoo3 video card. i set the dip switches for softmenu and my agp to 2/3. when i boot the motherboard beeps repeatedly and i get no post. am i doing something wrong or is there some jumper on the board that has to be set? Please help because all this stuff is brand new and i would like it to work.

You should'nt have had to move the dip switches at all since the board comes ready to go with the dip switches already set so you can do your config from the bios.

anyone else have any suggestions? i will try a different stick of ram. i found the beep code for award bios and it says that anything over 2 or 3 beeps is a ram problem. i wouldnt mind some more input, i really love this board and dont want to send it back. could the problem be from static? or is it fried? please help

I agree about the dip switches. You should not have moved them from the way it was shipped. If you did move them and if you can't remember which ones you can look in the motherboard book. It will tell you how the board was shipped.

In addition to that you should set the CPU for 350 of course to get the first boot before any overclocking. Also check to make sure the Ram is seated properly and you can also check this by seating it in the other slot.

Read the manual and make sure that the slot it is in is OK for the first stick!!

I hope you have some luck.

i figured it out. the ram sticks did not want to push in the slots far enough. i didnt like pushing on them that hard but it works now. another question how do i get the cpu parameters to stay after i exit softmenu? when i first booted it posted at 233/66. i went into softmenu and set it to 350/100. i saved and exited and it still read at 233. how do i get them to stay? thanks for all your help.

One of the things you change with the dip switches is whether the soft menu works properly. So again, make sure you have it set the way the book says it was when you bought it.

This is really a 350 chip correct (that is, you aren't just trying to overclock it to 350)? If the dip switches are set correctly, then I would think that this would hold from boot to boot. Since this is new, I have to also wonder if it was remarked as 350 , but is really only a 233 chip. (Fraudulent marking of the chip is possible.)

i will troubleshoot a little bit tomorrow. i dont think the chip was remarked because it is a slot 1 chip. all 233's (to my knowledge) where socket 7. any way, i will read my manual a bit more. i have it set to 350 right now with the dip switches.

update!!! everything is working great. i have got a slight overclock on it right now. got it to post at 466/133fsb but i get registry error in windows. oh well, this board is awesome.
