I have an Abit BE6 motherboard with a PIII 600 chip and 384mb of 100mhz ram, I am having real problems in overclocking it at all, I cannot get the FSB above 112mhz and then it is unstable. what am i doing wrong, if i crank it up too high the system will not boot up at all.
Is there anything i can do? without spending huge amounts of cash?
Have i missed some settings?
I have the latest bios!

I have the same Mobo... stable now.. but after having similar problems as you are explaining...I found the culprit on my system to be my video card. My AGP card ws hitting a point where the FSB was too slow to kick in the 2x transfer rate.

Try going beyond the 112 mhz to say... 113 or 114 and see if that works. If not... there are a multitude of other causes for your problem. Such things as memory cas..memory type...IRQ sharing...voltage... I could go on, but you get the idea.

Try to rule things out 1 at a time till you find answer...maybe even just trying 1 stick of memory at a time.

good luck.

PC100 ram can't overclock too much especially if you are using the cheap stuff. You also hurt the amount of overclocking that you can do with more ram sticks. Get some good PC133 ram and put in there, I bet you can get higher.

**sigh** At least yours BOOTS...=(

I'd have to agree with the PC100 ram holding you back. PC133 is so cheap nowadays, now is a great time to get some, too. There's usually a couple of places that has it on sale or with a rebate every week. BestBuy has had 128MB sticks on sale w/ rebate for a while now for about $20 or $30.

Start there, and see what that does for you....
