Abit Be6
PIII700@868 (wanting at least 933) piii is cB0 stepping.
448 mb ram (mosel 128mb c2, generic 256mb 133mhz, 64 mb pc 100 Apacer)
Hercules Gts32
MX300 (sound)
Motorola sm 56 pci internal modem
dvd, cdrw, internal zip100, fdd
Aopen hx08 300w psupply

Here's the thing:
My rig is 100 % stable at 868 at 1.7v. When I go for 933 i get to windows but start getting
error-msgs. All from kernel32.dd, to startup progs that statt misbehaving.

This really annoys me, because I am pretty sure my chip can do 933.
Im beginning to think my mobo is the cause for this. I think I read somewhere once that these early
BE6's were buggy. Maybe its just not that stable a board?

My temps are all ok. At full load at 868 my cpu temp never tops 36c. (ca 98f).
I have tried to up the cpu voltage all the way to 1.9. no fix.
As for the ram all overclocking to 933 has been done with just the MOSEL (which should be good for 150mhz at least).

Any suggestions will be welcome!
sorry for the somewhat long post.

ever thought of your memory? what if those dimms don't wanna work together at high fsb's?

and from your specs...i'd say your Apacer PC100 is holding you back...remove that PC100 memory then try running it at 933...and btw, what heatsink are you using? i mean...how didja populate the 3 dimm slots of the BE6-II? they're pretty close to the cpu and if you have a big heatsink...you'll lose at least one dimm slot...

Run it with each ram stick separately and see what each one will do. You will be limited by your slowest stick. My guess would be to at the very least remove the PC-100 stick.

As stated in the first post, all overclocking
attempts has been done with just the Mosel which is pc133cas2...

Dont know about this one.. Ill try using another board with my PIII and see what happens. I wonder if setting the I/O 3.3 a bit higher could do the trick? Thats a no can do with the BE6 (I.. not II).

Abit upped the Vio on the BE6-II to 3.5v to help overcome the cold boot problem when using the G2 GTS, maybe thats what is holding you back at the higher speeds. It was all to do with the pulse width modulation used to vary the Vio and the fact the the G2-GTS caused boot failure.

Try running the Mossel at cas3 @933, it also seems like your hdd is giving you fits...the kernel thing reffers either cpu crapping out, or hdd is running too fast, you might already know this, but set your pci to 1/4, and agp to 2/3, and if you already have this set, then the only other suggestion is to set the hdd pio to mode 3, or if it is ata66, set it for mode 4.
Make these changes 1 at a time, and maybe the other drastic measures won't be needed...first I would try the cas 3 thing. good luck
