I had an old Abit BE6 laying around and I just bought a new 800EB CPU for it, to my sprise when I tried setting the multipliers I could ony get it working at 600MHz. When I tried stepping it up to 800MHz by using 133Bus and a 6x multiplier it would start to load my OS and stall...
Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem or will I have to buy a new motherboard for it.
Thanks

The multiplier is locked on all Intel chips these days. That isn't the problem. Try increasing the Vcore in the softmenu to about 1.85v and see if it goes then. Be sure to keep an eye on temps whenever you increase the Vcore!

Good luck!

You need to set the agp devider in "softmenu II" to 2/3, and set your pci devider to 3/4, and "dissable speed error hold"....remember you might need to upgrade to better memory, or a new video card...at 133mhz bus, some video cards have a hard time.
Hopefully this should get you to booting..also if the cpu sets the default voltage at 1.7, then try it there.
Good Luck ;-)

Well I have tried your advice, and I have noticed that it stalls when it is trying to load up Windows 2000. I am currently running 256Megs of 133 Infineton RAM and a 3DfX Vodoo 3 3500 Video card. Do you think that the vid card it the bottle neck not allowing me to get my system running at 800... And if so, what asus motherboard should I purchase to get my PGA chip running nicely with no problems...
Thanks

I doubt that the video card is the problem here. Provided the bus dividers are set correctly it shouldn't be an issue at all. What Vcore are you running? Will W2000 load in the VGA mode from the boot menu? Do you have a W2000 video driver for your card?

I have a BF6 which is the same board and it's running 2000 Server without a hitch at 143FSB.

What are you seeing when 2000 loads? Where does it hang at?

I know what your prolb is, the first BE6II wernt made to run a 800 I belive a 733 was the fastest cpu you could put in it,,SO Hears the Scarry part you need to goto Abits site, and download the latest BIOS UH I belive,Updateing The BIOS is SCARRY(Atleast for me the first time I did i) The new BIOS WILL support uptp 1 ghz

Since your sticking a 800 in a board that thinks a 733 is the fastest out there its confused you Must update your BIOS

Hope this helps
