I have an Abit IS7 w/ the newest bios and a p4 2.4c @ 3.0. I have user defined the cpu voltage to 1.55v (is that default?) but when i check the voltage in cpu-z or in sisoft sandra, they both read 1.49v.
Can i assume that my mobo is at fault and so jack up the cpu v in the bios to a higher level?

p.s. when i clock my chip too high and it wont POST, it let's out a long continuous beep, what does that mean?

the bios-settings are correkt. dont trust the software/bios-read.
with a multimeter you can see 1,600v is 1,60 in windows/idle.

what the peep mean... dont know.
hit 5 times the reset with 4sec timeout between and the post will work to default cpu-settings.

Most of my Abit mobos undervolt a little, but I've never had one that undervolted quite that much. With my IC7, a BIOS setting of 1.6v will measure to be 1.58v or so. You should install Hardware Doctor to monitor your temps and voltages. That program should be on your IS7 install CD.

I would bump up the vcore some more and see what happens. Keep a close eye on your CPU load temps. Do you have better than average cooling? As long as you don't go above 1.6v measured with Hardware Doctor and as long as you have sufficient cooling, you'll be ok.

perhaps your board undervolts a little more than usual.. but my bet is on sandra. Don't trust software monitoring for most things, if not all things.

I have it currently OCed at 3gigs. However, looking at the cpu database, the average overclock is 3.3gigs. My mobo kicks ***, imho, so do i just have a bad cpu? or should i try jacking the vcore up? my heat is 43C right now, so temp is not the prob.
