I just installed the Abit IT7 Max2 (v.1) with a new floppy drive and a new floppy cable.
I get no error messages in WinXP in device manager.
But if I put any floppy in and try to explore it, I get "Please insert disk in drive A".

In the BIOS, if I enable floppy seek, I get Floppy failed error 40 at boot.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Patrick

The cable is the right way around (because it has a 'groove' in the middle of the plug, like tha ATA cables, and the floppy drive is new and works in other systems...

hrm... maybe the mobo's floppy connector is messed up or somthing...

all the pins are there on both sides and the floppy is good right? if so im stumped... but if you just need to transfer files you could put em on another computer and send em over a network if you have one.

DUH....rookie mistake...<blushing>

The cable CAN be turned around...there's a recess for the groove on both sides...Floppy working fine now.

Now I have to figure out why my USB2 drivers refuse to install. I'll start a new thread for that.

Thanks for your help!:bang head
