First of all... Black PCB! Nice.

Second: If I get a DVI --> VGA adapter can I use dual monitors on this card?

Third: I like the memory/GPU sink. Big, fairly spread out. Will I have much o/c headroom with this setup? or do I need to work a little on cooling this sucker? My goal is regular GF3 levels, maybe Ti500 levels.

I'm waiting to put this card in until the rest of my new box comes. I still have yet to order a mainboard (AMD 760MPX of some variety), CPU's ( [2] XP1800+), case (Antec SX1000 or knockoff), and sound card (Audigy Platinum with Livedrive) so I'll not be trying this card out anytime soon.

Thoughts?

May or may not need extra cooling. I know I have seen it, just don't remember. GF3 levels should be reached without too much trouble.

Only because you asked, I got my Epox 8K3A up yesterday and I got to tell ya I'm lovin it. As long as it does'nt burn up, this has got to be the best board I have ever owned. :D

well i got my card i won on ebay (pny g3 ti200) that should do 550 core and abuot 555 ram. and im looking into some some good ocing apps. if anyone knows of them give me a pm..

i was only able to hit 220 after geting the coolbits regit and that was not because of the card but because the silder would not go anymore LOL... the guy i bought it from had put a farily nice hs with a copper bottom on it and also a fairly nice 5000 rpm fan on it also to get these speeds.. here are some shots.. so i do think u can get it up to ti 500 speeds without to much prob with a new hs and u should be able to get to g3 without a prob...

That looks like it may be a 1U cooler. If so, it is what I bought and put on mine. I thought about drilling and tapping mine but finally decided on gluing it on with Super Glue. If it is, then I do not know that you will do a whole lot better on the cooling solution. See if you can see any white or whitish material under it. What you are looking for is how he attached it.

do they make these? it would have to be more than just a cable right, it would need a built in DAC or something to convert it to analog?

We have some DVI --> VGA adapters that we use for the monitors that come with our AIX boxes at work.... I might see if I can fenaggle borrowing one for a night to try out the dual monitor capabilities....

yes, it is a 1u cooler. I asked the guy and he said he attached it with epoxy and artic silver 2, but he also has a 60 mm 5000 rpm fan attached...so I think that might be why I can get it up that high. Also, I have a 120 mm fan at 130 cfm blowing slightly above it.

i dont think this will work. inorder to run 2 monitors at the same time (ie. with different things on each monitor, and not just a duplicate) u need 2 ramdacs and as far as i know, the geforce 3 series of cards dont possess 2 ramdacs. if all u wanna do is display identical images on 2 monitors, then that should work. i know that the entire geforce 4 series of card have addressed the dual monitor issue (nView). ATI radeon 7/8500 series of cards also have dual ramdacs, as do the matrox cards.

u can always try it out, it ll be great if im wrong....
