Hey i have the Abit TH7-Raid board with a P4 1.5 @ 1.8

The board is all screwed up and the voltage doesn't go as high as i specify it to be in the Bios.... I did the 1.85 volt mod for my P4 chip and i got the 1.85 option in the bios.... but the problem is with the board so this is what the actual voltage i get with the settings:

1.825 volt = 1.74 volt
1.85 volt = 1.77 volt

as you can see i'm not getting the full potential out of my chip as i can only take the voltage so far.... Does anyone know of any other mods for the P4 chip that maybe can give me an option to go to 2.0 volt? in this case with my board set to show 2.0 volt, it would give me approx 1.9

Another question... does anyone know of any Mods for my Abit TH7-Raid board? Any mods you have will be appreciated.... i feel like messing with the board soo...

any help will be greatly appreciated...

thanx in advance

Pete

You can mist likley do a similar thing that is done with the p3. Wire the pins to tick the motherboard into thinking the default voltage should be more.
This is called vid pinning and you can see how it is done on a p3 here:

Then you can look up the vidpins used on the p4 here:
ftp://download.intel.com/design/Pentium4/datashts/24919803.pdf
You might be able to find the vidpin trick for the P4 somewhere on the web already.
Warning! This is not for the faint of heart. I have already read a post here where someone killed thier P4 by using too much voltage. So take your chances.
Goodluck.

do you have teh information? Like could you tell me which pins i should short out?

Table 2 of the second link above shows you.
It lists the max voltage as 1.850
Vid pins 0-4 shorted(connected) is max voltage 1.850.

Figure 22 shows the layout of the pins on the cpu.

Pin C1=VID 0
Pin B2=VID 1
Pin B4=VID 2
Pin A3=VID 3
Pin A1=VID 4

Since you have all pins already shorted for 1.7v you only need to short pins vid 1 & vid 2 to any one of the other vid pins or vss for 1.850v.
Table 30 of the intel doc will give you a list of all the vss pins if you want to use one of those.

hmmmmm I already did the 1.85volt mod.

I guess the problem is with my board, in that it doesn't supply the right voltage to the chip. When i tell the BIOS to give the chip 1.85v it only goes as high as 1.77v.

Do you know any VIO voltage mods for my board? I wanna increase the voltage to my RAM to make it run more stable.

thanx a lot for all your info.... it's been really helpful
