alright. i'm finalizing my selections, i need suggestions about power. but heres the current to-be specs
-antec SX830
-5 fans total- (2 rear default fans, 2 sunon front fans, 1 delta fan on cpu)
-tbird 1.2 ghz 266 fsb
-Iwill KA-266
-crucial 256mb pc2100 ddr
-swiftech MC370 w/delta fan
-leadtek GF2 pro 64mb ddr
-one 11gb maxtor hd (5200rpm i guess, i'm using the one i have now)
-kenwood trueX cdrom
-to add an ibm 60gb 7200rpm and yamaha 16x10x40x cdrw in the near future.
-pci tv card
-generic sound card and 56k modem

the big question is. will the 300watts PS that comes with the antec SX830 be enough for these equipments? thats for responses. ...

I have 2 Antec 400w PSU's and am very happy with them. With the 300w psu you don't leave yourself any headroom for expantion and ocing may push it over the edge. I buy my cases at a local comp store and they will sell them to me with my choice of PSU or just the bare case. I suggest you try to find a dealer that will let you do the same. The 300w unit may work ok and if it does it will be strained. If I were you I would go with a 400.

ok or not ok? i found that its $23 more to get 300watts to 400.. i think i'll go with that. oh yeah!!... get ready guys... my bird'll blow you all away!!!

Do not get the cheapest 400W PSU you can find as the specs vary a lot on the combined +5&3.3V wattage. For example, CompUSA had two sitting next to each other. One was a no-name 400W and the combined wattage was 165W, whereas the Antec 400W next to it had a combined wattage of 245W. Most 300W units have a combined wattage of 145W. As you can see, the one alleged 400W PSU was barely better than a 300W. Get an Antec 400W for $20.00 more than a no-name. You will be glad you did.

I saw this power supply at kdcomputers.com and it looked good. It's hard to tell if it's a Antec or Enermax from the pic but I'd call to inquire about it. I've ordered some stuff from kdcomputers and they're good with customer service.

soo.. i should be ok with the antec SX840... its the same case as the 830 but the power supply is 400watts
