Really dumb. I am trying to change text in a pdf file using acrobat 10.
I have the box where you put new text, but cannot figure out how I get it from box into document. Why they do not let you just delete old text and type in new is beyond me. Any help is appreciated.

In Acrobat X Professional:

  1. Click on Tools
  2. Expand Content
  3. Select "Edit Document Text" under "Edit Text & Objects"
  4. Position your cursor and/or Select the text to be modified directly in the document
  5. Type

Notes:

Acrobat can do really funny things with formatting, so the above strategy may or may not work, depending on the document's original format and/or the position of the text.

Acrobat has excellent integration with Illustrator, however. If the formatting does not meet your expectations do the following:

  1. Under "Content" select "Edit Object"
  2. Right click on the object (text block, box, etc...) and select "Edit Object..."
  3. The object will open in Illustrator where it can be freely edited in any way you wish. Once you save the object, it will be re-integrated into the PDF, keeping forms, actions, etc... intact.

Thanks but it will not work for some reason. I just saved as word document and made the changes.

I'm confused why ppl still use Adobe products. The only Adobe product I have consistently used is Photoshop, all the other Adobe PDF related products are just bloatware(including the necessary evil - Flash). Plenty of other products out there cheaper, more efficient. Psst, FoxIT :grouphug:

For Acrobat X Professional, automated creation of fillable forms, form controls, dynamic form data and scripting comes to mind. Also I've found Acrobat X to be more accurate than Foxit or Nuance PDF creator. Also, integration with Illustrator takes PDF to a whole new level.

One of the strengths of Adobe Products in general is the integration across programs. Acrobat X Pro, Illustrator CS5, Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5 and bridge make a whole that's far greater than the sum of the parts.
