Ads to be implemented in CS:S?

I guess we'll just have to wait and see them. I just don't think it's really going to make a difference. The ads aren't bright colors and such, they are colors that blend in to help in not distracting you from the game more than necessary.

Like I said, I understand the beef since this is being added mid stream and not from the get-go...but still I don't really think it's a big deal.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. In CS and CS:S the game has a more arcade feel anyway. Just imagine now that you're in an arcade with some advertisements around you!

If it's stuff like replacing the soda machines in ce_office then that's ok but I just can't put up with billboards or watch this show on Discovery channel plastered on the wall.

There will come a point in which you will see brands in games to create realism, of which I support kind of... to create realism and you see a can of soda, you think Coke or something.

But on de_dust2 ads would just freak me out.

IF/When (*when* sounds more realistic sadly) this starts happening, any player wanna post it here? i'd like to know about it :) Thanks!

If they are going to keep this up, the games ought to be free. We shouldn't have to pay for the ads.

There is a thought. If there are ads in games they could offset some cost by making them cheaper, the mmo fee could go down, etc etc.

I can live with advertisment as long as it somewhat related to the game. The point in which I never want crossed is when I log into a game and see "Lower your mortage rates" or some crap like that.

In one thread people complain about realism and then in the thread people complain about ads. If you feel you are being force fed advertisements then I do not know how you manage to watch tv or even leave your house. The game is entertainment. Most games show all types of logos and movies such as "Plays Best on Nvidia" those are all essentially ads. For me its not that big of a deal really, not enough to get me to stop playing a game. I will still drop bombs on faces in CS:S if there are ads or not. I should change my in game name to Coca Cola and see how many people I can get to stop playing, that would be really fun. I dont meant to offend anyone, it is just my opinion.
I think its far worse to pay to play a game every month like WoW after shelling out $60 for the game itself. Oh and then you have to BUY the expansions on top of that. Please someone let me get in on that so I can make a fortune too.

While this doesn't apply to this game since it's been out for a couple years now...I think the point of in game ads IS to keep the cost of games down. I've heard that development costs keep going up, but game prices have been relatively the same for a long time. So I think I'd rather have in game ads then having to pay $75 for a game outright.

And I agree with what trendx says about MMO's. I think it's worse to pay $50 for a game and then ALSO pay monthly just to play it.
