WHATS UP FELLOW COMP. JUNKIES,

IM NEW TO OVERCLOCKING SO IM NOT EXACTLY SURE ABOUT A COUPLE OF THINGS.(1)MY CURRENT CPU,T-BIRD 1.33@ 1577 10.5X 150FSB TEMPS UP TO 48C.WHEN I WAS AT
1.47GHZ 11X135 TEMPS WERE AT 41C,IS THIS TOO MUCH OF A DRAMATIC IN-
CREASE?ALTHOUGH SYSTEM IS VERY STABLE SEEMS A BIT HIGH.(2)I RECENTLY
RAN ACROSS AN ARTICLE ABOUT CHIPSET LAPPING.ANYBODY HAVE EXPERIENCE
ON THIS SUBJECT,IS IT WORTH IT?AS WELL AS RAM HEATSINKS,ANY SIGNI-
FICANT RESULTS IN THIS AREAS?(3)ONE LAST QUESTION,MY V-CORE TEMPS
READ 1.95 ON ALL THE MBM I HAVE USED,BUT IN MY BIOS 1007&1008 BOTH
READ 1.85.IS 1.95 EVEN POSSIBLE?ANYWAYS,THANX ALOT IN ADVANCE,ANY INPUT WILL BE APPREICIATED.

48 degrees does seem a little high but not bad for the speed your getting. Chipset lapping will not help you IMO. A good HSF and AS3 should keep it cool enough but if you want to lap the heatsink the more the better (It cannot hurt only help). MBM might be reading the vcore wrong and yes it is possible to have it at 1.95. The ramsinks I don't think will help much. I have my system at 150 FSB right now and the chips are cool but also my fan for my processor is right next to them so that probably helps.

And please next time don't type in all capitals. It's hard to read and sounds like your shouting. I know this isn't a chat room but its hard to read.

And a warm WELCOME TO THE FORUMS.

Daniel

I think if you went with a better HSF set up you would show better results. The Memory cooling kits help with FSB but not if your O/Ced all by multiplier. I use them anyway. Air movement is key to cool running, more air in and out the better.

Your temps are a little on the high side, but not bad. Maybe if you can get them back under 45c then you'll be good for temps.

Things to concentrate on are your Heatsink & Fan, Airflow, and Thermal Paste. If you really wanted to get some good temps you could try watercooling, this has been proven time and time again to be worth every penny.

I think you mean Heatsink lapping, not chipset lapping. This has been known to get a couple of degrees, which would be what your looking for. What you need is some 1000 or 1500 grit sandpaper. The purpose of lapping is to make your HS smooth, with as close to a mirror shine as you can get. The whole HS doesn't need to be like this, just the small area that the core contacts. It takes a good 30 to 45 minutes to do this good.

After that go grab some Artic Silver 3, this is one of the best thermal pastes around and will also help your temps a couple of degrees.

I wouldn't really on a software program too much for realiable readings. I only use them as a guideline. If the software says somethings out of whack, then check the bios, it usually has the right measurments. Same with the temps. Even in the bios these temps can be off a couple of degrees. The thermal sensor for it is under the CPU and doesn't acually read off the core of the CPU, which is the hot part.

Why is your voltage at 1.85? did you set it there, maybe your bios isn't reading it right. It's supposed to be at 1.75 default.

And for future reference, please check your caps lock key, it really is difficult to read, especially when you've been up for the last 44 hours. Or maybe i just need sleep.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions or concerns we'll be glad to help out.

PS: Have you heard the latest craze. People are commencing in an activity that is sweeping the WORLD. Researchers call this phenomenon FOLDING@HOME with TEAM 32!!!

Simple rule: if it doesn't crash it's not too hot :D
Mine tends to run in the 45-48C range under load without any issues, I wouldn't worry about it.

eh up all..... hello from across the water.. :D

the temps your runnin @ seem quite ok... i've got a duron 600@854 that runs around the 50 mark.... but on win2K its as stable as a rock...

as a rule of thumb, if you cant fry an egg on your case, its not overclocked enough... :D

Whats up overclockers,

Sorry about writing in all caps, with all the chat rooms I have been in I should of thought about it.Anyways, thanx alot for the input,
it helped alot. Its a trip how one or two words can trigger a killer idea. But for now what Ive done is lower my multiplyer down to 10x
@ 150fsb which puts me at 1502mhz cpu w/load 43c sys 26c.Which is fine because honestly I dont notice any difference. As far as my HS goes I thought this was a good model?I was also told by a friend to look into a HS called the core?In reguards to chipset lapping, here is the article I was referring to.Man,I took me all night to find this
stupid thing. Was starting to question if I even saw it,lol.Thanx alot bros and I hope I can return the favor someday.
