my specs are in my sig... okay here it goes, im running stock heat sink and fan, non-ocing, and my idle temp right now is 52*C , iuno if this is normal for stock hsf or not, i have a Modded out Antec Lan boy, 1 exaust fan in the back, 1 induction fan in the front, along with 2 induction fans in the window blowing on gf4 and heatsink (sorta) , these fans are Antec 80 mm Case fans, the blue led ones, , i got 26*C case temp, and my CPU on load goes sometimes to 62*C , i plan on betting a Hercules HSF at the local computer shop, i know it will put me a good temps for non-ocing. But anyways...anyone see a problem with this, or are these normal temps?! Thanks, Derrick:)

For a stock heatsink those temps are normal. My friend has a 3000XP his idle temps are 63c* idle:eek:

I would look into buying a Thermalright (not thermaltake) heatsink. Popular models include: SLK700 / SLK900. Swifttech also make high quality heatsinks.

Wait a minute....Holy Crap you have the same MB as me!! Damn, it seem I can really be a big help to ya!

If you want your chip to go beyond 400FSB and cchange voltage settings beyond 10%, you will need to do a pin mod. Just read the instruction and be careful. Its perfectally safe. Just make sure you set you multi relativly low.(on the switch box)(Multi x FSB = clock) Example: 166 x 11.5 = 1.8.... If ya need help just ask.

Nah his temps are right, I have the same MB. This MB has a good diode, it reads in synch with MBM5 (reguardless of BIOS flash)

EDIT: You might run into the same problems i had. Our MB dosnt allow for a large heatsink (capacators / crap blocking CPU socket) I am using a SK7 without any clearence problems. You might have problems with anything larger than mine.

Many heatsinks wont fit our MB you need to find one that fits. Nothing from Thermaltake will wit since the base is too large. Nor will a Vantec Aeroflow. My suggestion is to take the safe route and get a SK7. I can garuntee that it will fit (since im using one)

The SLK800/900 might work. But you MUST be certian that it is no (maybe slightly) wider than an SK7

It would appear that you need a Thermalright HS.Those temps are to high for my liking. If I remember correctly your mobo uses the clip type mounting for the HS. www.thermalright.com SLK-900A is the HS for your mobo.I would stick a Panaflo 92mm U1A fan on it.The only place to find this fan is at, www.digi-key.com Enter item# P9760-ND.. THE FANMAN:cool:

thanks guys, im going to the local pc shop to get another hsf for temp. use, until my slk900a gets here, just ordered it, plus, i can use the heatsink im getting today for my 1800+ system. Thanks for the hsf advice.

It wont fit, there are alot of capacators near the CPU socket. Unless its only marginally larger than an SK7 then it wont fit

Readings will always be in synch with MBM5... all temp reporting programs simply report the temperature that is being read by the device. The reading will be the same no matter what program you use.
