Im a poor student well not that bad and I really need a computer.

I studying computing, but I don't really look much at buying PCs and upgrading etc., this site was recommended to me by a colleague.

I have a limited budget, I'm not to sure what the way to go is, but I do some graphics and web design, I also design some C++ programs for my course to. I always would like a machine I can tinker with and clock since my old machine is jumperless and no mobo settings.

Any help..

wait when you mean buying pc's, do you mean building your own pc or getting it from like dell?

if you gonna build your own, here is what i would suggest for a cheap powerful pc...
Antec Cases are generally good... the newegg.com deal of the day cases are all very cheap though.
Enermax/Antec/Sparkle 350w Power Supply
AMD XP 1600+
Thermalright AX7 w/ sunon 40cfm
Epox 8k3a (+) mobo
256mb Kingmax pc2700
50 gig hardrive (you choose... i personally like western digitals)
16x CDRW
Floppy

I would not imagine that being any more than $600

Do you europeans have rebates? Cause, if you do, you should really check them out... if they are anything like stateside you can save money on things like the harddrive and cdrw. And then use the $ for better components or just pocket it.

Emericana thats a great system but I have yet to see a 50g hd? lol most seem to be 40-60-80-100-120. it seems like that above 40gigs, at least to me.

hi, I too live in the uk, for £600 you can put together a great o/c system, see the system in my sig, that cost me about £400 last year, and I have spent about £50 on o/c stuff since, I built it myself, Check around your local cities for hardware stores, I found a great supplier in the Leeds/Bradford area, PM me if you want details.

Going by prices at www.cclcomputers.co.uk:

£507.66 ordering off their website, or £596.50 inc VAT, if you get it via phone.

Prices not including postage. This is a good but cheap system. Perfect web design, programming, gaming and overclocking. The XP1700+ should go quite far and the Epox 8KHA+ is an excellent board.

It is a midi case, a full tower is £53.11 + VAT
Another case fan = £1.89

The case fans plug into the PSU, btw, not the mobo.
