First of all this will be my first time messing with SATA drives and RAID0 and I want to make sure I get the steps right for a trouble free install. I have 2 WD Raptors that I would like to run on my P4P800 Deluxe in RAID0. Will I have to adjust the jumpers on either drive so one is master and one is slave? Is there anything special I have to do to let the computer know I want to run RAID0 or is it as simple as plugging in the 2 SATA connectors on the motherboard and turning the machine on? Can boot of the windows CD in order to install XP pro?

Thanks

I believe they both have to be set to master. In your user manual there will be a section explaining how to setup Raid. All you really need to do is, like you said, hook up and boot. Go into the Raid utility and setup the level you want. Be warned however that to do Raid 0 both drives will need to be formatted in the Raid utility. So if you have any important data on either drive you want to keep you should back it up.

I have the same mobo and hdds as you and I just recently got the drives... Before you start unistalling things, make sure you have a disk with you for the Intel Chipset (this I was having a prob with cause I was trying to install Via chipset drivers for windows xp install). The drivers for it are located on the mobo cd under the chipset directory. Once you have that, go to your bios and deactivate the via bios so that you dont have to watch it detect nothing everytime you start windows. Still in the bios go to ide config and make sure you enable the intel chipset bios and enable raid. The intel bios is straight forward: use 8k-16k (for performance) . Then install windows. Good luck!
