Hi guys, after burning out my microwave and ups my Samsung G5 monitor developed horizontal green lines starting at the bottom slowly moving up. 2004 wasn't the best year for me
Anyway, now I need to buy a new monitor but I don't think I could afford a OLED or QLED so I'm looking at a couple of panels in my budget. One is a VA and the other is a IPS.
Let me know your opinions.

I personally prefer flat monitors over curved, so my pick leans to the ViewSonic IPS model that you linked. Others prefer a curved monitor. I guess you need to decide which you would rather own, curved or flat. I own a VA flat panel monitor & the image quality is more than fine for the gaming that I do. An IPS panel generally has better color accuracy vs a VA panel.

I agree on preferring flat to curved, but then again I'm running a pair of 27" monitors, can't speak for 32".

And specs agree with the IPS vs VA statement, the ViewSonic comes in at a higher color saturation - 109% sRGB vs 132%.

Thanks for the advice. I don't mind curved but I think it depends on the size. My current G5 is 32" but because of the curve it actually ends up feeling more like 30"
But I don't mind flat monitors at all. The G5 was the first curved I got and I got horizontal green lines at the bottom within 2 years :(
I was mainly concerned about the image quality going from the G5.

Guess I will go with the ViewSonic. Are there any other 32" monitors you guys can recommend at this price range?
I can spend a little more if the return is worth it. Just keep in mind, all PC parts cost more here than in the US.
So I'm having to pay more for less...

I'd recommend checking around on MonitorsUnboxed youtube channel and rtings to see if there's anything else that fits in your price range. What you selected may be fine, but may be some extra options

I looked around on the two sites linked above & didn't really see anything that jumped out at me. I'll second the recommendation to check out rtings.com.

I just bought this one this past Sunday. It is AMAZING!! to me, :ROFLMAO: It was the most expensive monitor I have ever bought, check it out.

MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED, 32" 4K UHD Quantum Dot OLED Gaming Monitor, 3840 x 2160, 0.03ms, 240Hz, True Black HDR 400, 90W USB Type C, HDMI, DP Port

Yes these websites are pretty limited. I'm open to any place in this country or even importing if the cost balances out.
But there is a HUGE tax on any imports here. Especially cars...you have to pay like 300% tax if you want a car :ROFLMAO:

for me... i look at a few things...

how far away from me is the monitor? the back of the gaming desk? the front? is it at least arms length away when i'm leaning back with my feet up? 32-43" can be flat
is it 16:9 (standard 1080k standard 4k)? then flat
is it ultrawide (32:9)? yes? how wide is it and will it wrap around my view? (like samsing 57" dual UHD) then it can be curved.

PS: i added a sliding shelf for my keyboard, so it extends further out from my desk. the desk is 30" deep by 60" wide, and the 30" 2650x1600 monito is near the back of the desktop, so it sits about 38 -36" from my eyes, depending on if i'm sitting up with my feet on the floor (28-30") or if i've put my feet up on the ottomon and am leaning back slightly. if i lean all the way back it's over 40" away.

He just said he couldn't afford an OLED...

Yeah, like everyone else, I'd lean more towards the ViewSonic based on the two choices you presented.

How do you guys feel about this monitor?
I might be able to fork out for this one, because I'm going to build a new system pretty soon.
In fact, I had a thread asking for advice on a new build and some people said wait a few months for the next gen graphics cards to drop.
Also, I got hacked big time in those months

Here is the monitor I was looking at.

Meh... I'd rather you just got two of the other ones... then you could give one to ME (I've been meaning to visit Sri Lanka anyway... )

Sure... that one's fine if you can afford it. Higher resolution than the other two for sure. You won't really be able to hit high resolutions or frame rates until after you upgrade your system though. So a lot would depend on whether or not you'd actually USE that high resolution...

And that's gonna depend on which graphics card you get. But that seems like a solid monitor to me.

I'm hoping to get a RTX4080. Which means I might be better off getting a 4K monitor. But looking at the price, I might need to buy second hand parts lol
Otherwise this will literally end up costing like ONE MILLION rupees :ROFLMAO::cry:

This is the cheapest I could find the 4080 for...

You should totally visit Sri Lanka though. I could give you a beer at least

I don’t wish to steal this thread BUT I have a question. I’ve just got a rtx-2080 for x-mas. I currently have a 27” 1080p monitor and wish to upgrade. I’m looking to keep the cost Below $300.
I like the looks of the 31.5 <-> 34” 1440p monitors BUT for about the Same Price I can get a 43” 4k TV.
Q - What does the Monitors have that I would need for Gaming THAT I don’t get in the TVs.

Thank You :)

I'd recommend starting your own thread if what I say below isn't sufficient:

To briefly answer, I wouldn't recommend trying to play anything at 4k on a 2080 unless it was very low requirements. You're better off in the 1080p-1440p range. You can reasonably get a 27-32'' 1440 screen
