Hi everyone! I'm 17 and I've been putting this computer together for general use in my house (gaming, website design, instant messaging, possibly video/audio use). Anyways, can anyone help me out with anything if they don't think something belongs or if I need to change something. Before you look this over though, I had trouble deciding whether to go with a X2 3800+, 4000+, or a X2 4200+. The x2 3800+ and 4000+ were both lower prices but the x2 4200+ is another hundred bucks which I don't think I'll be allowed (with my budget, hehe). I could push for the x2 4200+ but only if you really, really, reeeeeeeally think I should put it in. I do use my computer a lot for multi-tasking a lot so I'm hoping to get a dual-cored processor. I should also mention I won't be doing a huge amount of OC'ing, maybe just a little bit but ANYWAYS, here's my specs:

-ThermalTake S Viking Mid-Tower Black w/ Side Window
-Seasonic® S12-500 500W ATX12V v.2.0 Power Supply (Retail Box) SHIPPED
-Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI w/ Dual-Ch DDR400
---AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz Dual Core Socket 939 512K L2 Cache
---AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Dual Core Socket 939 512K L2 Cache
---AMD Athlon 64 4000+ / 2.4 GHz L2 1 MB - Box
-BFG GeForce7800GT OC 256MB
-Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160 GB - SATA-150 - 7200 rpm - 8 MB
-OCZ DDR Performance 1GB (2x512M) PC3700 466Mhz Dual Channel
-BenQ DVD+RW 16x Back, w/ LIGHTSCRIBE Technology (Dual Layer)
-Sony 1.44M floppy drive Beige/Black*

Are all these parts compatible? Should I go with the x2 3800+ then OC or just opt for the x2 4200+?

Thanks for your help!

Not overclocking much, huh? In that case try for the 4200+, but if you can't afford it go with the 3800+. Everything else looks okay if you won't overclock.

P.S., Boycott Sony

I'd get the 200GB Maxtor with the 16MB cache. It should only be a few bucks more than the 160GB.

Are you going to use the Lightscribe features of the drive? If not, don't bother getting that 1625 and try to find the DW1640 instead.
