Looking for recommendations for video card and cooler especially, any other advise welcome.
This machine will be used primarily for creating still Maya 4 scenes.
Will it work? We don't need USB, but are the RAM and power supply compatible with this motherboard?

We are looking at a price of about $1500 for this configuration but we can customize to our hearts desire so let us know what we want.

Thanks.

I would go with a larger Power Suppy 400 or more watts. Alot of poeple have problems with 300 watt PS in a single CPU setup.

I have and am very happy with my Enermax FS-981 Series File Server Case It has place in the top back and front bottem for 120mm fans. But I did have to add 1/2 inch holes under the front of the cover to allow airflow for the front 120mm fan. This and the two MCX370 swiftech HSF keeps my dual MP1800s at 40 and 41 C under load. I am going with water cooling so am sure a good copper HFS will do even better. Only resion I bring up case is it can have a large effect and the cooling. And I love mine.

I sized my fans so that I would get some positive pressure.

Now to get to your questions really about the video am not sure.

From the research I did when I was shopping for a dual CPU MB I think that MB need registered memory to work well and there was some issues with using all 4 sockets. But in any case I would buy just one large DDR DIMM as for most poeple the fewer moduls they have installed the better stabilty they have. But some of this is going from memory I would go to the Motherboard portion of this board and look around and I also would do more research at www.2cpu.com

Tyan S2466n-4m Make sure you get this model number..usb is fixed and oc features are in it ..

Just a few considerations.

You will not want to overclock your rendering station b/c if it goes down then you may miss important deadlines so the retail heatsinks should do fine with proper case airflow.

The XP 1800+ just dropped in price to about $130 for the retail model

and I also think you will need a 400W or greater good quality PSU. If you get an Antec case like the SX1040 then you will have a sweet case and high quality PSU. Check them out here http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/perfhome.html
