So, because I had to remove my heatsink so many times, I want to get some new thermal compound for it. Looking at this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007

Seems good - 169/5.1k ratings under 4 stars.

For the heatsink/fan combo itself, I have literally no idea. Not looking to spend too much (I'd say $40-$50 was probably the highest I would really want to spend). I've got a Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz Black Edition CPU, which I believe is socket AM3. Quiet is a big plus for me, but as I run a Radeon HD 4890 (fairly loud card), it's not too much of an issue.

Could I get your suggestions? Thanks in advance :).

For my case, I have an NZXT Source 210. Probably about 6", MAYBE 7" of clearance for the fan (I'm not sure, just eyeballed a distance). That should be enough, right? :p.

Is probably a better bet. AS5 (Your link) is still solid; but it's old. And has a cure time. The MX-4 performs better in general and has no cure time.

I'm not sure on clearance.. Do you have a side-fan or something? Does that case support it? Cos you'll probably have to remove it for any decent Heatsink.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is your best bet at that price point IMO..

alternatively; if you don't mind buying out of new egg; the Thermalright Cogage Spirit is a better heatsink.. And still within your price range.

Also as a general rule; ignore most reviews on new egg and respective sites.. Most people don't know what they're talking about haha. :p.

I tend to shy away from sites I don't know, but I'll look around that one. Thanks for the suggestion.

By a side fan, do you mean a fan on the opposite side of the case the motherboard is mounted on? I have a fan mounted on the back of the case, but no others installed (though it supports them). The 212 Evo is listed at 159 mm in height. My case is 7.7" wide, with about 20mm of space for cable management, and another, say, 10 mm (as a high estimate) for the motherboard and CPU area. Leaves me with about 165mm, which is less than the HSF. Should fit, but barely.

I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks for the fast reply :).

Frozencpu is supposedly a reputable site.. I cannot personally comment; as I live in Australia; so newegg/frozencpu/microcenter is all out of my area. But I've seen many recommend frozencpu as a site; so I recommend it to you as well.

Yeah I mean the fan slot opposite the motherboard. If its empty; it'll be fine; but if theres a fan there; definitely won't fit XD.

I recommend you one of these HSF: Hyper 212, CoGage, CAFA50, CAFA70... any kind of tower 120mm heatsink will do it for you.

I know of people that use the H212 and the CAFA50. And they have almost the same performance.

Agree 100% with Mjolnir's first post.

Hey Mjolnir, you in Australia too? Where abouts? I'm in Brissie myself.

EDIT: Dumb question, it clearly says Sydney.
