I have a BX mobo that only supports AGP 1x and 2x. I faced too many lockups with my geforce256 DDR (asus v6800 deluxe) and found sollution only in lowering the AGP to 1x. I did some benchmarks to see how big was the performance difference. Here are the results with default benchmarks of 3dmark2001, no overclocking, no tweaking
AGP 1x --> 2492
AGP 2x --> 2515
We see an increase of ONLY 1%. That's almost equal to nonexistent. I was expecting a greater one.
(If I overclock and tweak the score of my mobo goes up to 3103 http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?1160348)
