The CPU socket of the AI7 is at a 45 degree angle. I didn't think this would be a problem with cooling until I tried to put the mounting unit on the board. The corner of the socket makes it so the mounting plate won't make contact with the board.:bang head :bang head :bang head

Good thing I still have my Zalman 7000Cu. Anyone have any ideas on how to merry these two things up? I don't have a dremmel.

Looks like your only option is to get a P4 adapter from logiccooling . Their adapter will fit your WW and it sits on top of the block much like Cathar's LRWW P4 adapter.

That's the only work around that I can think of.

Is there a picture of that? The problem with my current adapter is that it won't fit around the socket.

I called up Dtek & told them what was wrong. He didn't quite understand what the problem was, so he looked up a picture of the AI7, and kinda gave a "wtf!" He said he would rework the current mounting hardware for P4's to accomodate for the 45degree-turned sockets. He said I can either wait for the new mounts or send my current mount to them to cut up.

I think this may be a good time to get myself a dremmel.

do you happen to have a metal file?

those things are like 5 bucks and just might solve ur problem

I actually got the hack saw out. I put the plate in a vise & took out the right side of the plate. I think I bent the plate a bit in the process, so I'm not sure the block is making 100% contact with the chip.

Went from 50d on air down to 20 on water, so I'm not too worried. Danny at Dtek told me to call him next week telling him what I did. I think I'll see if they'll ship me a re-fitted plate just to be sure I'm getting perfect contact.
