Hi, I am relativly new to overclocking, I have overclocked my Athlon 1.33 to 1.4 with ThermoEngine V60 -4210, and have installed two 80mm fans, one to the front bringing air in and one to the back (top) pulling air out. This only helped my cpu temp by about 1-2 celcius, I have large Air vent in the back of my case running along by the pci slots ect ,and also a large vent on the botton left hand side of my my case. What I want to know is , shall I block up these vents of not? (any sujestions would be apriciated!)
Cheers,
Matt

use masking tape or something and close it off. watch your temps and see what happens. Some get better results with covers off.....some get better with on. like the post above says, each case is different.

I think this is a pretty good question if you think about it. In my opinion if you have enough air coming in from the front and being being drawn out the back, why not go ahead and plug those slots. If you do it that way you will have air running across your components and keep air from going out those slots and reducing airflow. Just try it and see if it changes the case temp, if it gets cooler or doesn't change then it didn't hurt. I just got a new case with 2 80 mm intake and 2 80 mm exhaust, I have no vents on the side of this case. After installing my components in this case i got 3c degrees cooler at both idle and load. The air comes in the front and out the back. pretty simple and very affective.

Thanx for your help everyone, I will try it out and see how it goes! I would install more fans except i have no sutiable place for them on my case!
Thanx again,
Matt

More isn't neccessarly better especially if the fan fight each other.
