Im installing a water block on my aiw 9700. removing the TT cooler by ocsystems. The old cooler had thermal pads and covered the memory. When
iremoved the cooler, the pads left an oily residue on the chips. Also the thermal grease(or whatever it was) that came with the cooler. Dried up and pumped out from under the gpu and turned hard. It was very hard to remove. Now the good stuff and the question.

New water block with AS3 is installed. But, should I get those ram syncs? passive coolers fo all the memory chips?

BTW the Danger Den block fit well, but some of the mounting hardware didnt. IE: sleeve that goes through the board was to wide(diameter) to get through and the top nut wouldnt fit. when you mounted the cooler, the nut came in contact with the base of the block and held it up.

So, to sum it up, should I install syncs on the memory chips? Is the benefit worth the wait and the money? dont think ill get more than 351 out of the memory anyways:rolleyes:

351 out of your memory is pretty sweet. And yes chances are that you won't be getting more out of the memory, but adding sinks will most likely help the RAM by keeping it cooler, which is always a good thing :)

Since you are getting a watercooling setup...might as well go the whole nine yards.

well, i didnt have the patience to wait for the ram coolers, so I took a band saw and made them out of the cooler that i got from OCsystems. cleaned the edges off on a bench grinder and lapped it and attached with atric thermal adhessive.
