Well this is only my first night with the board in so far. I thought it would be better for overclocking then my Asus A7A was. But So far I can only reach 1100 mhz with my T-Bird 1 gig. My Asus ran it at 1200 with no troubles at all.
Like I said this is only the first night. And this is actually my first experience with a VIA chipset. Never used on before. I'll have to do my research now I guess.

I must admit one thing though. Overall speed at 1100mhz is noticibly faster then my Asus was running at 1200mhz. The system is just more responsive then it was with the other board.

Any Idea's or tips I'm open for suggestions.

What happens to the computer, does it boot into Windows? Are you bumping up the vcore? Is so, what setting? You have to reboot to get the 1.85above option in the bios? I have the same ram as you, and my timings are set to the max.

Are you trying more with the fsb of multiplier?

I can set the multiplier and FSB the same as I had on my Asus which is 9 x 133. But then the system won't post. I have to clear the cmos. right now it's running at 8 x 137 which seems ok. I've got all my Ram timings as fast as they can go. I've tried slowing them down but it did'nt help. I've tried every cpu voltage from 1.75 thru 1.85 and higher. I've tried bumping up the DDR voltage and that did'nt help. I did repencle the L1 bridges but no go.

Temps in the bios are only around 38C. (which is about 20C lower then what my Asus board showed on average)

I don't think it's a problem with the board as it most likely is I'm just missing something. Maybe a jumper somewhere or a setting in the bios. I'll be reading the manual today at work so that may give me some idea's on what's going on.

Yes the 4 in 1's are installed. But even if they weren't the system would still post right. Not sure what is going on. I have'nt had time to try anything else but I'll figure it out.

Did you use the same P/S on your other board?

Did you check your P/S values? The enermax is notoriously low - I have one that drops to 4.79V under load. The AK35GTR may draw a bit more juice and that may just drag down your PS - just a guess.

Yo

i think the ak 35 sucks some power.... i was running a ak31 just fine. but when i got my ak 35 it would randomly reboot, so i upgraded to a sparkle 400watt....Anyway i couldn't oc very well either, i aslo could not use my raid for some reason... i just rma'ed so i should have it back in a couple of days...

Everything is the same on this board as was on the last one. I'll have to check out the PSU reading's. There fine in the bios. But I need to download some software to read them within window's.

Yeah got me the ak35gtr and far as it will go with an locked 1800 xp is 141 before the ME/XP start acting weird and programs stop working....didnt remember what speed but i did have it at xp2000 for a little while before i tried to run quake arena..hehe..

Does anyone know bios trix to get it more stable ?

using micron ddr 2100.

Should i disable interleave seeing how i have just one stick of 256?
sandra memory scores are lopsided when I enable it..

got a glaciator cooling it around 40c.

I've got another stick of PC2100 coming. It's Micron as well. I have just one stick of Crucial in right now. I have interleaving disabled. Have'nt really tried it with it being enabled yet.

I did get it to post at 1133mhz now. Not much of an improvement though. I really think this T-Bird is too stubern. It's not a very good stepping. It's an ARGA I believe. Not really known for it's OCing. Oh well maybe when I get some money I'll spring for an XP. I guess the Asus A7A was a little more forgiving with this chip then the shuttle is.
Oh, well. As far as raw speed in gaming and window's this board is noticibley faster then the asus was. Even while running 100mhz slower. So I guess I can't complain. I think it's due to the better memory managment this board has over the Ali chipset's.

Yo

Not on this one Yo, previously I used and Enermax 431W supply with an 8K7A and had to mod the power supply with a cermet pot to adjust the 5V line. Before this mod the 5V line would drop into the 4.6 to 4.7 range and sometimes lower. I installed an Ak35GTR about 4 days ago and the 5V line has stayed 4.95 to 5.05 averaging 5.03V over a 60 hour run without ever adjusting the pot. I think this board must utilize a feedback sensor.

Hey Just got my AK35GTR.. I'm running an Athlon Xp 1800+ with 512DDR AzenRam CL2.. I have no problems with O/C or RAID.. I'm running win XP and my multiplier is 11.5x160FSB... and its nice and stable. I have an Antec 350 P/S.

The best I can get it up to so far is 1133mhz. And even then it takes a while somtimes to post. But it seems fairly stable. I Installed Window's XP on the system with no glitch's at that speed. I really wish I had another chip to test it out with. I don't really have the money right now to spend on another one. Oh well, the system is still realy fast.

azneram?!

I just saw azenram 512 meg pc2700/333 for 412.00....lol
$#!@^% that!! Fsb not that important.....

I agree! If your gonna spend that much you mine as well just buy the top of the line CPU instead.
