Alpha Pal and shim for XP?

Is it OK to use a shim with the Alpha Pal 8045 or is there some reason that I might have overlooked as to why I shouldn't?

The good old shim debate, have a search for previous threads on this topic for people general opinion. One great thread on this matter can be found here but if my opinion matters ( not that it should ) ... DON'T DO IT !!
