Unless I want to put the money I spent on 512MB of DDR PC-2100 RAM to waste, I need a DDR motherboard to put it in. I think I'm getting a 1.33 GHz 266 MHz FSB Tbird CPU. What is a good MB for that? I'd really appreciate it if people who have a DDR MB and are overclocking it or not would reply about how well it works, any problems they have had, how easy it is to overclock, and how fast they have got it to run, RAID features, etc.

Please don't reply saying I shouldn't go DDR or I should wait until September for the new DDR chipsets to come out. I have considered that and I have put too much of an investment into this new computer (I have all the other parts, except CPU, MB, and HSF) to wait that long.

Thanks in advance.

One of the best boards I could recommend would be the Epox EP-8K7A. If $132 is a bit rich, then try the FIC AD11 for $109. Both of these motherboards use the AMD 761 Northbridge + Via 868B Southbridge chipsets.

These prices were gathered from www.newegg.com and www.mwave.com today while I was buying the Epox for my personal system. Unless you have a very good PSU, I won't recommend the Asus A7M266. The A7M is only available in limited quantities as well, plus it's selling for an outrageous $200 anywhere that it can be found.

Thanks for the advice. I will check out those motherboards for sure. Just one question: what is a PSU?

Kryten, cool name.:)

I have a Antec SX830 case with a 300W PS. The same PS works well in my other Tbird system, which has more drives than the new machine will. I'm not sure if the number of drives matters, but I can't think of why a certain MB would need a particular power supply, as long as it supplies enough power.
