I am just seeing alot of probs lately with this board, mine has run like a champ since the day I got it. If yours has been good, drop a line with your config, perhaps its some of the hardware that people are using that is causing these probs.

A lot of people here love the board. Just seems like a lot more people have it which means, you guessed it, more threads about some probs. I have yet to read a bad review about the board(expect the room around the socket) and everyone here loves it. Almost as much as those folks with that dinky little IWILL board ;-)

Ive built 4 PC's now with the KT7A and KT7A-Raid and they all work really well and are exceptionally stable.. this is still my mobo of choice

I have five KT7 series boards and love them. I have also had three bad boards.

I've had one KT7, which I sold and am on my 2nd KT7A. The first one had a chipset problem, but the second one has been a real workhorse. I run all memory bios settings at max speed. Come to think of it, I run everything in the bios at max speed. I think the IWILLs get a faster FSB for the same components though. Mine will not go beyond 150 Mhz 2-2-2 reliably, regardless of CPU multiplier, but who's complaining.

I have a KT7AR that's been hummin' along for 2 months now without a problem. I did not go w/ SBLive for sound though. Just read a lot about the boards and peoples problems...and avoided those issues.

As hoot mentioned ViaHw had an article about a bunch of bad 133a chipsets that made it onto Abit boards....Hopefully this has been resolved. I would contact Abit immediately if I had a bad board or a board that seemed unstable and use hundreds of pages from this forum as evidence. Those that are having problems should do the same...your the consumer...get your money's worth!

I wonder what is causing so many problems as of late, I never really used to see people complaining about this thing, actually, between the few problems I saw and all the good reviews I read on it, I figure this IS the board to have, I love it and wouldn't trade it for any other. I just want top help out those that are haveing probs on their's. Thanks for all the posts so far guys.

the bad chip seem's to rear its ugly head when overclocked.mine has had issues but i have worked them out except 1.the chipset fan runs even when the board is off.this seems to point to poor production quality but i got 1 of the first boards made and mine is the only 1 that this seems to be happening to.regardless,it is a keeper.
i have all settings to max and ths girl can fold some proteins.

Mine seems exceptionally stable. My config:

Abit KT7AR
WD 20gig ATA100 7200RPM on IDE1
LS120 slave on IDE1
Memorex 48X CD ROM on IDE 2
Maxtor 15 Gig 7200 ATA 100 on IDE3
Yamaha SCSI 4x4x16 Burner
Adaptec SCSI Adapter
320MB Micron PC133
Netgear FA311 Network Card
SB PCI AWE 64 Sound
US Robitics ISA Modem (only used for faxing)
ATI AIW Pro 128 Video Card
Voltage Modded
Overclocked
BIOS tweaked to hell
Windows ME

With as full of a computer I figured I'd surely have some trouble. My only problem (can't figure it out) is why my digital camera won't hook up to the comm ports. I thought it was the ACPI thing so I moved some cards around. Rebooted and presto the camera connected. The next day, it wouldn't connect again. Go figure.

I'm sure it's something to do with IRQs. I'll probably just go with a firewire card. They're faster anyway.

KT7A Raid
512 mb ram
wd 40 g hard drive
hercules prophet 2 mx
soundblaster gamer-x
iomega zip drive
iomega zip cd
dvd drive
some other stuff I prolly can't remember
win2k pro

system runs stable... no problems other than ones I have caused myself

system is not overclocked (1g AXIA)

WELL I killed my SLOT A 700@800. I started getting errors, lockups, and random reboots. Then it said some kinda error in window and halted, after that it won't post. I don't think I"m going to overclock the FSB anymore cuz the stuped thing SCRAMBLED my harddrive. I've learned my lesson this time and BACKED up just about everything. I MADE sure I got ALL MY MP3'S and REALLY good PORN!! HA HA!!

So I had to break down and get a new MB and CPU. I got that mobo and 1gig cpu for $200 @ FRY'S. The thing I had a prob with, it ONLY ran @750 not 1000. I called tech support and they said that I have to run the FSB @133 to get 1gig. The only thing I'm getting errors again. I figured that it's the cheep memory that I put in it cuz now that it's running at 100megs FSB it's pretty stable. So anyways let that be a lesson to ya all. GET the GOOD memory. Time for me to visit PRICEWATCH!!

Don't even visit pricewatch, go to http://www.crucial.com and get cas2 pc133 memory

It seems that the only people with probs are the ones who have recently gotten a KT7A, Do you think perhaps that there is just a bad batch of them out? The only time I have probs is when I do something stupid to it and I can't get the "insert key recovery" to work. I just want the people who are looking for a new mobo to see that this is a great board because there are a few posts saying that they stink, I think the KT7A deserves some equal time. :) Thanks for all the replys and keep'em coming, maybe we can figure out why so many of them are wacky lately. Thanks again.
