I just got finished biuling my new computer with a AMD 1ghz 266FBS proccessor on a K7T-Turbo motherboard and everything seems to startup A LOT slower than on my old 400mghz comp from dell. For example, in Unreal Tournament, it took about around 20-25 seconds to boot it up, and on my new comp, it take more than 25 seconds and when I go to start a practice session it take abvout 5 seconds or more to load the menu!!! Most other games do similar things. On the new and old comp, I am on windows ME. Also, the transfer rate from dvd-rom to hd (like installing UT) is alot slower. I used the same DVD-rom for both comps (I took it from the old one and stuck it into this one). Can anyone help me here? This is suppost to be a 1ghz at 266FBS and some things run slower on it than on the old comp. PLEASE HELP!

From a guy who has the same M/B and CPU as you, I think I can help, but please list all what you have in your computer to help, like hardware stuff.

Here are my specs:

AMD1ghz FBs: 266
K7T Turbo motherboard from MSI
ATI Radeon 32MB DDR (AGP)
Modem Blaster from Creative (PCI)
Ultra ATA controller from SIIG
30GB WD Ultra ATA 100 HD
60GB Maxtor Ulta ATA 100 HD (brand new)
16x Pioneer DVD-rom
8-4-32x CD-writer from HP model 9100 (brand new)
250 Zip from IOMEGA (brand new)
Generic 3.5 floppy
Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer 5.1
Linksys ethernet card

MSI K7T has two pairs ATA-100 controllers already. Installing another ATA Controller on it seems unusual. You have 2 HD, DVD, & CD. The floppy controller has the floppy and ZIP. If you are using the Ultra-ATA controller (is this a 33, 66, or 100?), did you disable the ATA controller on the motherboard? (resource allocation issue)

You did not mentioned if you are O/Cing or not. I am assuming that you are using PC133 memory (memory was not stated) and have jumper the MSI motherboard from FSB100 to FSB133.
