AMD 1Ghz running at 79C ?

Running on a Asus 7V, 100 Mhz FSB, Stock HSF and Artic Silver II

That's pretty darn hot!! Either your HSF is installed incorrectly, or you need a new HSF

Ok the fan was not turning on HSF, snapped the fan in and was still running in the 60's, put a chrome orb on and now running in the high 40's little better. Is the chrome orb good enough? This will not be overclocked.

If not overclocked, those temp's are adequate.

Still a bit hot, especially if you are planning on overclocking. invest $20 and get a FOP 38, or even a fop 32-1.
