Hello my processor is amd athlon LE-1620 2.41 GHz
I was wondering if I could Overclock it to a faster speed. Maybe 2.8 GHz or even better. Please if some one could answer my question that would be great.

Thanx

We might know more if you would show your system configuration similar to what you see in my signature at the bottom of my post.

Just asking if X can be overclocked has mostly no really redeemable answer that is accurate.

If you would give us more information about your system we might be able to help you. We need some facts like: Make and model of computer. Is this a box store computer like an HP, Dell, Gateway, Emachines, ets. or one custom built? Is the CPU being cooled by a stock OEM heatsink/fan or something aftermarket? Do you know the maker and model of the motherboard?

Info for my Computer

MOBO: MS-7309, Bios version V9.9
CPU & Cooler : AMD Athlon 64 LE-1620, Stock Heatsink/fan
MEMORY: (2) Kingston 512MB DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz
Power Supply: Antec Performance 350Wat Model: SL350
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GT220 (1) Graphic card
HDD: 1 , Raid not sure
Burners: DVD RW, non blu-ray
Sound Device: Onboard and addin
USB: Plugged to mobo and onboard
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Computer was custom built by me not knowing what I was doing I taught my self to build them, just been a while since I've looked at whats in the Computer.

Hope all this info helps you achieve my answer for overclocking. Sorry for not knowing some of the stuff.

From what I can see from looking at the User Manual PDF there really are no overclocking adjustments in your bios. It appears the only thing you can change is the memory divider and voltage. I don't see anything there that would affect the CPU frequency and voltage which are the main things that you would want to manipulate in overclocking.

What happens if you take the "Adjust Memory Frequency" off of "Auto"? What choices do you see if you do that?

Replying back to last post

Ok so I switched it to manual and it unlocked the memory clock
400 MHz
533 Mhz
667 Mhz
800 Mhz

That's about all it did. I don't know if that helps or not.
Also If this Mobo is not able to be overclocked, is there one that you could recommend that uses all of the same hardware I have already so I don't need to replace anything or replace much of it. Something no to expensive.
Thanks!!

Looks good

Looks good, however I was looking at the CPU's and I wanna ask you a question. I have a Opteron 2.6 GHz processor that's just laying around. Do you think there is a Mobo out there that supports it along with all the Hardware I have with out having to upgrade everything. Sorry I didn't ask this or mention it earlier but just found it.

Go to the biostar web site and look at the CPU support list for the motherboard I suggested to see if its on the list. Is the Opteron a socket AM2/AM2+ CPU?

Opteron

The research on the opteron said it was a AM2 Socket, that's also why I baught it a while back but wouldnt fit my mobo, so when I looked it up it says that its a 940 pin that it doesn't fit my mobo.

Ill take a look at the site tho.
thanks :)

Can you give the exact model number of that Opteron CPU? Should be on the heat spreader.

Found this: http://icrontic.com/article/socket_940_vs_939

and this from Wickapedia (see pic) which makes it sound like it wouldn't be compatible:

Oh, okay. Well im just going to get a new mobo, my sound went out and can't seem to get it to work. I was thinking why by a new sound card for it when I can just go ahead and get a new Mobo and start upgrading my hardware.
Thanks for the help and I appreciate it very much.

Just wanted to thank you for all your help. I no longer have that mobo or processor. I have a BIOSTAR N68S3+ with AMD ATHLON II X3 450 3.2 GHz
4GB or DDR3 Ram.
I am wanting to overclock this for sure. I went into the bios today and seen that I could overclock it. I just have no clue what I am doing. Do you think you can do some research for me and see if I can get it over 3.2 GHz and also do you think that I could play Modern Warfare 3.

Before you bought that motherboard I wish you had asked my opinion about it. That will not be a good overclocking motherboard. I doubt it has many overclocking options and the Nvidia chipset board bioses tend to be buggy. If you want to overclock you need to spend more money on a board than what have put out. On a good board the CPU you bought would go much higher than 3.3 ghz. Your CPU is rated at 95W TDP at stock speeds and voltages and I'm betting that's the top wattage rating of that board you bought (http://206.108.48.60/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=497&tab=1). Little or no room for overclocking there even if the bios has overclocking options.

For a little more money, this would have been a much better choice. I have this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138283

I actually got it off of craigslist. I traded my old pc parts for this mobo with processor and a 400watt power supply since mine was acting funny, figured it was better then what I had and now I can play those games like crysis and all. I actually love it. But was just asking to see if I could overclock it to give it maybe a little bit more on graphics or somthing.

Oh, I see. Well, a bargain is a bargain an it should run rings around your former rig. Are you using the motherboard video or a separate video card?

To overclock your video you would need to download "ntune".

So tell us more about your new system. Does it use the stock AMD cooler that comes boxed with the CPU or isit an aftermarket product?

What about the case and the case fans? How many fans? Where are they placed in the case?
