AMD Durons are HISTORY.

In case anyone missed it, the AMD Durons are history.

Yeah, Best PC was dryed out of Durons over ten months ago and havnt received any new ones since.

In its place is the XP1700+ and XP1800+ Processors. The XP1600+ is no longer available hence AMD stopped shipments over two months ago on theses CPUs.

By January 2003, AMD want ONLY the XP2400+, XP2600+, XP2700+, XP2800+, XP2900+ and XP3000+ to be available for purchase. By January, you can expect that the 2400+ will go for no more than $180 Canadian ($120US).

The models lower than 2400+ will be sold as economy and since AMD will only be producing T-bred-B after January 1st, looks like were gonna be seeing some very fast value based computers.

BTW, Intel is launching a 2.2GHz Celeron on November 11th and a 2.4GHz Celeron on December (Week before Christmas). It will be interesting to see what AMD brings to the table (hopefully price cuts).

Personally, I can see no point in selling Durons, when XP1600's are going for less than £50 (over here in the UK). It's what I'd call a "budget" chip now.......

Very true, why spend not spend a few more bucks and get an XP instead of a Duron. But there will always be someone that wants a Duron system

Also very true. But hey, imagine some anonymous person gives AMD the billion or so dollars they need and they actually come up with the cpus early? Now that would be a nice Christmas present.

The XP 1500s are still available, and about $60. 1800s are entry level now, at about $100 or so...

In fact the only places we enjoy decent prices are CPUs, RAM, Mobos and HDDs, where prices compare to international ones well.

Highend hardware is ridiculously expensive: A Ti 4200 costs about $300, a Ti 4600 about $500, and the Radeon 8500 (Gigabyte, 64 MB) about $200. Imagine that! Coolers are not available, apart from the Volcano 6 and 5. Simply not. No ASII or ASIII either. XP 2100+ and above are on special order, and prices start to get ridiculous after the XP 2000+.

Sorry to hear about that, the prices really are crazy but I guess you have to work with it. Guess you've probably gotten some supplies shipped to you from the states through some family or friends?
