The top motherboards are similar in performance. Take a look at the Abit, Asus, Iwill and MSI boards and pick the one that has the features that you are looking for.

Personally I recommend either the Abit KT7A or KT7A RAID.

I have two ASUS boards right now, (A7V and A7V133) both with Creative Sound Blaster cards. No problems.

I've heard some good things about the Abit mobo's so I think there is a big change that i'll take that one.

The asus a7v133 isn't a favorite of mine for it has only 5 pci and no isa so that will mean that I would have 2 buy a new soundcard and that isn't in the budget ghehehe. It also has an upstanding voltage part which isn't lokking very stable to and i've heard that a lot of them have to be repaired a lot....

does anyone know if there are a lot of 1ghz 266fsb athlons on the market already???

There should be. We don't have them in stock but we can get them.
