I see that some top models have the 12V-2x6 connectors like Sapphire Nitro+ or ASRock Taichi. The top Gigabyte model still has 3x8 pins. Lower models often have 2x8 pins, which is weird with 350W under load and spikes over 450W. Maybe they have lowered power limits.
My local stores have them but ask $900 for most 9070 XT models.

The power rating is probably for continuous. If the spikes are very short (say ms, not seconds) it doesn't matter as long as the average remains in spec.

The PowerColor Red Devil is model I wanted. MC still has 25+ Red Devils listed in Duluth, but I won't be in town until Sat. :(

I can't deal with any place that does not offer online purchasing and shipping...sure as heck not standing in any lines lol. I've owned mostly Powercolor and Sapphire cards, but most report the XFX cards are highly regarded as well. I may entertain one if the right model pops up somewhere.

Ebay is suddenly flooded with 9070's lol...hope every one of them goes unsold.

I'd bet the lines are gone now.... it's well past opening. Check your local B&M for stock and walk in and get one (look at their website for stock). There's no lines at Microcenter this moment and still 200+ left in my local (~100 at MSRP or above)....you may get lucky....

The only MC in Florida is in Miami...other end of the state from me. B&H has nothing.

Another quick look at the same two UK suppliers as earlier. Similar story on both. XT is gone. Some 9070 are still around, but they cost more than XT MSRP. Also OCUK's site is a mess. The GPU listings page show various models in stock, but if you click through they're actually out.

At my local MC, there are still ~45x 9070s available at MSRP then it's $599+. 3x 9070XT @ MSRP, dozens more starting at $749+....

Wish the UK was big enough for PC component retail stores. The few that kinda exist are mainly online focused, with a basic showroom area and they bring stuff out of the warehouse. It's not like grocery shopping with everything laid out on shelves you can browse through.

How is online availability in the US? If MC put their stock online, would it disappear in a moment?

With the exception of MC pretty much everything is available online in the US. Yes, if MC sold online and shipped their stock would be gone just as quick as Newegg's.

Well, I made the 3 hour round trip drive to MC and got a 9070 XT Red Devil OC. I figured they will be sold out by the time I'm back in the city to stay for a while & feel pretty strongly that restocks are gonna cost a bit more too. Watch get proven wrong on one, if not both counts. lol

I think it's all but guaranteed that restocks are going to cost a non-insignificant amount more next time. You made a good call

All 9070XT in my area are sold out or the price magically went $200 up. No one wants 9070. Nearly every store has many of them available. Probably because of a price that is not much lower than the XT.

I was trying to figure out what the difference is between the Red Devil and the Red Devil Limited Edition. The only difference I found is the metal keycap ... which costs $70-100 more in my local stores. Actually, only one store still have them here as all others were sold-out.

I know how it works, but if you check the power draw in reviews like TPU, then you will see that most 2x8 pin power connector cards have power limits set to 310-330W. The highest models with a 12V-2x6 or 3x8 pin have 350-400W. They all hit the stock power limit in tests (except for the XTX card with the highest PL that I haven't seen yet). Looking at how the 7900XTX acts, there is a reason for 3x8 pin on most of those cards. 9070XT has +/- the same power draw. Count it as most of these new cards barely use the PCIe slot to power up the card, so they don't have the +75W spare, but stop at ~350W (if I'm right, 346W was the highest with an unlocked PL on the 2 connector card). As long as 2x8 pin is still fine, and most users won't see the difference, I would pick a model with 3x8 power connectors if I spent money on one of those.

Btw. the XFX Quicksilver cards have 2x8 pin connectors, not 3x8 pin like specs say. There is a mistake in specs and stores repeat it. Product pictures on the XFX website show 2 connectors and also some reviews show 2 on their photos.
