None on Amazon/eBay, but shows stock in Scan from 15th November, £469.99I haven't been following closely as I was out when it was released. What was availability like? I've seen claims it was paper launch in Europe, but I haven't verified that.
I looked at Scan earlier and found it odd there was no button at all. Not buy, not pre-order. Guess they were still updating.None on Amazon/eBay, but shows stock in Scan from 15th November, £469.99
I'm just thinking how great can de-liding a Soldered CPU be? the gains from doing that i really wonder if it can be matched with a non intrusive rear block.Behind the cpu socket?
IIRC, the core layer was swapped with cache layer is in the bottom, but still on top of the 'pcb'. i don't think cooling on the bottom of the board would help any more than it would in a non x3d chio..
$479 or £450. How does the euro MSRP usually fit in with those?I see that all stores have much higher than expected prices for the 9800X3D (I don't remember what the MSRP was, so maybe it's because AMD bumped the price).

Looking at some UK sellers now:
OcUK £450
Scan £470
Novatech £470
CCL £520

No stock.
I dont think it will help any appreciable amount. There isnt a lot of heat coming out of the bottom, and no more (seemingly less) because of the layer swap. The article I linked said it cools better this way allowing more heat to escape the package/cores.I'm just thinking how great can de-liding a Soldered CPU be? the gains from doing that i really wonder if it can be matched with a non intrusive rear block.
Yeah, that point was never lost in my thinking. I'll need to see what improvements, if any, they come up with for that intra-CCD 'problem'. The only game I play that uses more than that is COD, but it uses them all (at least for Intel), so it may be really bad that way(?).Edit: agree 8 cores feels limiting at this price range. But with AMD the problem is their CCD usage. Maybe in not too distant future generation we'll get say 12 core CCD so that'll become the sweet spot.
Canada my distributor quoted me 650$CAD = 467$USD , man our dollar sucks so much now.$479 or £450. How does the euro MSRP usually fit in with those?

Canada Never seen any.. even distributors are just backordered.Still 25+ at my Micro Center.... nobody in Cbus likes these... or stock is off.
Edit: I don't know if there's 25, but they are there (confirmed via phone - still havent ordered one, lol).
I thought it was curious the bit about the upscaling to 4K instead of running native resolution... that didn't make sense to me and I'm not sure what difference that makes in the results. A head scratcher.edit: had a chance to watch through it. I think Steve really underplays the effect that the 9800X3D has on gaming even at 4K. Sure, in some games it is minuscule, but I would have much preferred to see the graphs of the 5800x3d/7800x3d/9800x3d at 4K [or even any higher end CPUs from the 5xxx series like the 5900x, although the 5800x was there so close enough]. In either case, he was testing against DLSS w/ Balanced preset (would have preferred Native or Quality, but will take what we can get as balanced ultimately makes the resolution nearer to 1080p than 1440 with DLSS upscaling to 4K] so may be showing more (or less) of a difference with different settings.
All that said, I know how much time reviewers spend having to re-re-re-re-re-re-run benchmarks and then if you're looking at settings/comparison/etc it can take an enormous amount of time to not be proving much of a point.
I understand that lowering resolution and settings shows a bigger jump in CPU usage to be able to compare versus other chips, but I don't think many people that have a 9800X3D [or similar] and a 4090 are seeing how many FPS they can get at 1080p unless they are playing ultra-high-fps/refresh-rate competitive shooters or rocket league where every fps still counts.
