anyone had exp. with or hear dabout the amptron 586LMR super 7 mobo(gonna upgrade an old reg. 7 AT)

I built my wife a PC using an Amptron LMR series. I can't remember if it was the 586 off hand, but it was a super 7, had onboard everything (even modem), and has worked like a charm. I've never had one single problem from this board. Having sound, video, LAN, and Modem on board does slow it down slightly, but she does some word processing, e-mail, and internet surfing, so she didn't need a powerhouse.

Drivers have never been a problem either. This was the first Amptron I've owned so I don't know if I just got lucky or if it's a good board, but I had a good experience. It's never even had a problem seeing the network from the day I plugged it in. Not something I can say about some of my other PCs with Netgear cards nics in them.

Amptron is one of the PCCHIPS family motherboard companies..... so you're not going to run into a terribly large amount of options with this board. If you're just building a box for email or office apps it should be fine. They're a good value, chances are you wont have to buy seperate video cards and such for it, but don't plan on running anything above stock. It wont be a speed demon nor will it be overclockable.

I had an amptron PII-2200 dual celeron board for about a year, rock solid, but no options for anything fun.
