I finally started to overclock tonite, i was hesitant because I thought i had generic ram. I have infineon ddr2700 512 meg stick. This is what i'm on now with this board:

12x185 with a 2600+
WUCPUD says i'm running 2220.43 mhz

Think i can keep pushing it?
Oh yeah that's with stock voltage too :~

Sweet Lanman! Good Job! I heard some good things about some of that Infineon. You need to download Memtest86 and Prime95 to test your rig with those settings to make sure you aren't getting memory errors. The download only takes a couple of minutes and the test only takes about 1/2 hour. Its important to do, just because your rig will boot into Windows doesn't mean its stable or performing properly. If you're getting memory errors you can corrupt files on your HDD which will eventually give you problems, this can also get to the point where you start to corrupt Windows Registry files which usually means a re-format and reinstall of your OS. Better to play it safe then sorry. IMHO

Hey bro, the memory isn't too shabby, but not the best. Looks like some better stuff is going to be bought in the future :~. I bumped up the voltages a smidge and i'm running the prime95 stress test now.

Yeah I just noticed a 195FSB, thats rocking for PC2700, way better than my Crucial ran. I bet its got 200FSB in it with a bit of tweaking, what timings are you running? What VDimm setting? Do you have Sandra? I'm wondering what you're getting for memory bandwidth. I see your pushing over 2300mhz - very nice! I'll bet you break 2400mhz with that SLK. Have fun man!

Regards, Balrog

Oh yeah, i almost forgot...

Everyone running this board, there's two very slick programs out there that are freeware that'll tell you accurate temps. I'm using MBProbe, and Speedfan. At an idle i went from 38 to 44 so i'm checking it now to see what prime has to say with max temp.

Thanks for the update on MBProbe. I will have to check it out. My temps are pretty good on my system now through mbm5 but I don't know how accurate they are.

I tried MBM5 once and it didn't really thrill me for some reason. I'm really liking MBProbe. Anyways i'm going to tweak with it some, i dropped the voltage down to stock and the FSB down to 185 so now it's 12x185 or 2220 mhz, it's running smooth, passes prime95 *memory's holding me back* and i fixed my temperature problem. I want to thank everyone here, especially balrog for being so helpful.

Yeah, balrog has really make a lot of great points on here. I've been lurking around and I've really picked up a lot from him. Got some of that buffalo memory from newegg based on his experiences and I really like it so far.

I think i'm first going to do the NEC dvd burner, the +/- burner, then i'm going to do memory. at 12x185 it's stable, i'm not going to go higher because now i have a temperature problem. silly me, i was running it without the side cover the whole time, now the cover's on and temps are up.
