Hi Folks!

Before moving on to the next q6600, wanted to check here for any guidance, tips, etc so I know I've maxed out the possibilities.

Am running a rampage extreme with the q6600 under cascade (~ -95C).

Would like your thoughts, opinions, etc on my bios settings and ram.

Currently have gotten 4.5GHz very stable, hit a max cpu freq of 4646, with 1.775v. Booting at 425fsb then using setfsb to take it up from there. Anything beyond 4.5 is, so far, very unstable. Over around 1.8v and the cpu gets weird quickly. Haven't tried making any tweaks to the memory.

Now...regarding the ram. I've been running 2x1GB of ballistix 1600's (8-8-8-24) but wondering if there's better ram to try? In addition to the ballistix, other possible (?) contenders are some cellshock 1600's (7-7-7-14, http://www.only4pro.com/index.php?id=showitem&index=1959 ) or maybe some geil evo2 (2000, 6-9-6...think these'll run in the rex?)?

Tia for any help! Am sure I've got a decent one here somewhere. :/

UPDATE: Can't seem to get back to 4.6 stable :( Added the bios settings that got me there before. Going to tear down the setup and load up the next cpu. Also adding a little pic

Switching cpus, added bios settings and a pic. Will post again when I get the other cpu up and running.

Couldn't get cpu 2 stable above 4GHz. Tried a variety of settings...nada...so shut down, let things warm up and swapped to cpu 3. Didn't find any moisture anywhere on the board, in slots or socket. Hoping 3's my lucky number.

interesting set up. Noob question, but what kind of cooling set up is that that you are using doing all that?

Nice clocks

I have a ddr2 formula, mildly jealous because I have a lot of ddr3 and only a pair of ddr2 sticks

I don't have too much else to add except sometimes pulling the battery between CPUs helps. And max out your CPU gtl and nb gtl, might as well :D

Nice work bro, that first one is a beast, hope you did not kill it

AI transaction booster set to performance 12

CPU GTL x.65 or higher if you have it

Clock Twister set to lighter

Have to think your NB is getting really hot, cooling that is paramount

Stix = if the Crucials are working why fight city hall ?

It's a cascade (2-stage phase change)...that's the thing in the background with the temp gauge on it. The radiator isn't connected atm (watercool mora in my sig)...I use that for gpus. Other than that, just a couple fans blowing down across the board.

Thanks freeagent! I'll check out the gtl settings next chip.

Thanks WD! Yeah...I'm hoping not, too :/ I could watercool the nb but not sure if the water would freeze over time. Also...maybe cold creep helps a bit?

7-7-7 vs 8-8-8 ;P

Just feel it when you are benching, if hot to the touch water cooling could be beneficial

My old Rampage Formula use to get so hot you could not even touch it

the Cas 7's are worth a shot, I would not give up clock speed for them though.

Just bolt a small fan to it, or point a big fan at it, if you can do that it will run coolish, at least 10c but probably more.

Yeah man...I'm definitely psyched. Thanks. Gotta believe it's got more to give but we'll see.

(ps- i see you with that badass 780! hehe)

bios setting for cpu 3

Below are my current bios settings with cpu 3. Haven't done much stability testing yet but the setup got through 5 prime95 runs @ just under 4.6GHz without issue.

Since most settings are on auto and pll, vtt and nb voltages were somewhat shots in the dark, figure there's a good bit more this chip can give with the right tweaks.

Any help, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Having trouble getting back to 540fsb with the same settings as last night. Frustating :/
.
500fsb is stable but 505 crashes prime95 within a few seconds. Tried raising vcore...newp. Adding vNB doesn't seem to help, either.

Ideas?

Is it completly dry ? may have some moister hanging around

Guess I'll fiddle around a bit more then shutdown, wait, pull the board and check everything out.

Visibly and anywhere I can touch it's bone dry.

If I've got to tear everything down will probably go ahead and try cpu #4

Still very unstable beyond 505fsb. Raised pll to 1.53, vtt to 1.50 and vcore to 1.7125, set ai clock twister to lighter, performance level 12

Decided to play with hwbotprime a bit: http://hwbot.org/submission/2599217_funsoul_hwbot_prime_core_2_q6600_(2.4ghz)_4812.08_pps

I'm definitely missing something. Figure 2D's over 4.7 should be do-able?

try perf 10 and perf 14 if availible, my chip like 12 but who knows what yours likes :)

Rock it at 4.7 while you got it ....

if you get a better one you can alway run them again

Careful with that vtt , vtt = Death for C2Q
