Okay, i've finally finished with my stupid stuff to do, now i'm back to this.
So far, for my computer, i've loosely come up with these parts, with much help form you guys (and gals?):

Abit NF7 Mobo (i could not find an NF7-s on pricewatch, but these said they had LAN and audio, maybe they ARE -S's)

XP 1700/1800 {DLT3C} (i looked up generic 1800's on newegg for about $50, so i assume that oeticular one wont be much more)

Promise ata/133 controller card (raid 0, and pci66 compatability???)

buffalo pc3700 (~45 for a 256 meg stick, so 90), i'll go for a gig if i have extra money

SP-97 cooler. i cant find this anywhere, what is it, who makes it, and whats it cost? i was told it was the "best", and if its sub $45, i'll consider it.

so, what do you think? i'm no longer set on ANYTHING, really. i came here with a good idea of what i wanted and this place has made me triple check everything.

sp-94 is a heatsink from thermalright... slk800/900 would be just as good of an option pretty much, with the sk-7 not being much different either. All of those are thermalright products and can be found at most popular online vendors.

thanks. i've done some more looking at it, i cant find a thermalright website, OR an SP-97. i can find the P4 version all over the place, but that does not help. i think i'm going too far again anyway, i'll look at the other heatsinks reccomended. SLK800, maybe?

Ah, so basically its a NEW thing, so it will be expensive... i'll look at hte 800 series...whats the difference between the 800A and the 800u?

The 800A mounts by the clips and the 800U mounts by the 4 bolts through the holes in many planars. The orientation of the fins is different, due to the positioning of the mounting holes.

thanks biznatch! i like guarenteed :-D

xaotic...thats good to know. most new motherboards have the holes, right? i assume its harder to crack the core with the 800U, i heard these things have ot clip on HARD...

wow, okay, i can get a nf7-s, hte 1800 w/ the right stepping and an slk-800U for about $200.
in order to get ata/133 raid 0 i'tll cost me about 100 extra...i'm beginning to think its not worth it.

i guess i might just get those and some ram, bufffalo 2700 should work... wow guys, this stuff gets cheaper every day. wonder how much longer till the ata/133 raid0 cards come into my price range... apparently the mobo supposrts ata 133, so i'll jsut use it standard till i can buy the card.
