Summer is coming and production is slowing. We are trending down in both ppd and active members. When compared to the two teams that we are both chasing *and* are enthusiasts like ourselves, and they too are trending down in active users. However, they are still trending up in ppd. We need to be mindful. The summer slow-down is real but our goal (short term) is to try to keep our production up for as long as possible. If you think of a car race. Some drivers will try to out wait the competition in breaking into the corners. We are coming into a corner and we seem to be first on the brakes. This can work if we ramp up production earlier than the competition but keep in mind that they are trying to beat us as much as we are trying to beat them. If you can maintain some production into the summer months, that would be good.

Speaking of the summer months. Production always slows down in the heat of summer. People just can't have all of that heat dumping into the house to then try and cool with AC. I get it. Costs are just too high. As the heat of summer nears, let's put some focus on maintaining our rigs. Shut them down, take them apart, remove dust and dirt, re-apply thermal paste as needed and get it all back together and ready to fold. If you have water loops, this is a good time to ensure that they are topped off and clean. Preventative maintenance can go a long way to staying servicable.

We are still gaining on four teams. EVGA, NVIDIA, Hardware.no and PCMR. One team is still gaining on us. EPFL. We are still on track to moving up to #8 in the world. Less than two weeks we should pass PCMR. EPFL should overtake us in about six months. We'll see if they keep production out through the summer. Being that they are a school, they may abandon folding in favor of another project and to save $$$ on energy costs. I don't know but we will see. Update: Looking at thier stats and it looks like they may be bringing it down. Maybe they are just cycling it up and down to work on it. I don't know but they are trending way down and have some serious dips in production as of late.

Top 100 in the world:
#32 = HayesK_ALL
#36 = WhitehawkEQ
#75 = torin3
#88 = dfonda

Bonus mentions:
#108 = Holdolin who will graduate out of the "Bonus" catagory and into the top 100 for real.
#143 = HayesK_GRC.

We are down to 46 active folders and have an average ppd of 10.7million per active folder. An increase in the number of active users would be ideal. The ave ppd for all active members is just for fun. If your rig went down, off-line, or is paused, let's see what we can do to get a month or two more before servicing the machine(s).
Our current production shows:
Top 22 are earning 1 million ppd or more.
Top 10 are earning 10 million ppd or more.
Top 6 are earning 20 million ppd or more.
Top 4 are earning 30 million ppd or more.
Top 3 are earning 50 million ppd or more.
Top 2 are earning 120 million ppd or more.

We don't have anyone earning a milestone this week. That doesn't have to be a bad thing. As we start to age out our production, milestones get harder and harder to earn. This is why I give emphasis to the billionaire groups. Getting to a billion is tough enough. Getting to 10 billion is harder. "WOOTs" and "WOOT WOOTs" are for those earning a first (E.G. 1, 10, or 100 million/billion) and for billionaires. If you want two "WOOTs", then you gotta earn it. (Ed: And who wouldn't want to earn a "WOOT WOOT" with extra "!" to go with it?)

I hope that everyone is well and having fun. Mother's day is coming up this Sunday so fold an extra WU or two for Mom.

As always, thanks Don for a great state of the team report, specially about taking care of our rigs. On a personal note:

Can you say buh-bye comcrap? I mean it's faster, it's cheaper, and for the icing on the cake I don't have to deal with Comcast anymore. Oh, a extra layer of frosting, that upload speed means the world to me as I have a lot of files to push to remote servers. Used to simply start the upload at bed time and wake up hoping there was no hiccup overnight.

Anyway, fold on folks, y'all really are the best!!

Congrats on dumping comcast! Haven't been a fan of them for years.

I'll be running my 2 4070 Ti's for the summer, but the RTX 3080 (Along with the upstairs already off) will have to shut down around the end of month. :rain:

The Good news , it will be up for sale along with my hybrid RTX 3080 and the upgrade in the fall should more than make up for this summer's loss.

I added a window A/C @1200BTU to the office to help this summer and I'm committed to keeping my production steady state through the hot months. It'll be nice when it's not 90*F in here all the time (it's a dry heat, inside!) and I'm trying to work...hopefully it'll keep the GPUs from throttling, too...

What impact this is going to have on my power bill, idk, but I have budgeted (in my mind) to handle the power bill increase.

On another note, does anyone have plans to try out a 4060? I don't mind being a guinea pig in the next month or so, but if someone else is going to preorder, I'd be very interested to see how it stacks up. Since folding isn't memory intensive, the 8GB Ti SKU looks awful tempting if it can outpace a 3080 with less power.

edit: and someone buy dfonda's 3080s! The one he sent me hasn't missed a beat since I plugged it in and there was a generous Team32 discount :)
